Topic Review (Newest First)
TomWe have used Aquaphor on Mikey. You are supposed to put it on as soon as he gets out of the bath to help hold the moisture in.
MomtofourHi Cammy,
I would most likly see our pediatrician first and see if he though we should see the dermatologist. We also would need a referral for our insurance. I know our doctor would refer to a dermatologist who has treated skin problems associated with DS.

CammyIf I ws going to take Jack to a doctor should I use his regular doctor or a dermatologist?
Willie's momI have tried all those creams on Willie. We also tried udder cream. None of them really helped. Now he has a prescription for Hydrocortizone cream .2%. We had tried the over the counter kind. His poor little cheeks are finally looking good. Another suggestion the doctor had was putting baby oil on him before drying him off after a bath.

Good luck.

EmdadOur doc just started Emma on a product called Eucerin, it's a creme that we're putting on her little red cheeks. . . seems to work pretty well.
MomtofourCammy,
Vaseline is a great protector but will not add any moisture to the skin. I use hydroslanolin, it can be found in the drugstore usually in the firstaid section. If you are unable to find it ask the pharmisist, sometimes they have it behind the counter. You do not need a prescription for it. It is also very inexpensive.
Lanolin is one of the few things that will rehydrate the skin. It works great for lips and that area under the nose.(I use it on my hands in the winter)
I put some on then cover it with vaseline. Lanolin comes from sheeps wool so it smells like sheep, covering it helps with that. My kids usually tolerate it well.
This is also something I recommended to patients that had trouble with chapped lips...I'm a dental hygienist.
Good luck.

IngridHi Cammy,

Try good old-fashioned vaseline or maybe ask you son's doctor what you should use. There might be some special creme out there which will help. Good luck.

CammyJack's nose and cheeks get so chapped. Just from walking to the car from the house. I put baby lotion on it but it may not be the best thing for it. Any suggestions?
