I'd love to know when your kids started crawling. Please share.

Thanks!

Callum army crawled (on his belly) at around 14 months and hands and knees crawled at around 17 months. I thought he would never do the proper hands and knees crawl as he fought us every time we tried to put him in the crawling position and then one day he just did it by himself.

Darah army crawled at 10 months and creeped on all fours at 12 1/2 months.

I think I talked to you about how some kids are observers and others are motor driven. Figure out which one Lana is. Darah is motor driven all the way...so she took longer to sit and stand, but cruised right along with cruising, crawling, and I imagine she'll be walking soon enough. Stevie is more of an observer, so he sat before Darah and started weight bearing on his feet before her...but she beat him with the crawling stuff. There's benefits to each: motor-driven and observers.

See you tomorrow!!

Madison starting scooting (for lack of any better term to use) at around 9 months and got on all fours. She really isn't "crawling" yet. She gets on all fours and moves forward. She doesn't have the leg hand thing coordinated yet. She can get to a standing position but doesn't stay there very long! I say Madison is crawling because she get across the room very quickly but by "normal standards" she is not crawling yet. Madison is 13 months old.

Elainah crawled at eight months, however it was often a bit of an unusual crawl as she keep her right foot flat on the floor like a bear.

She began walking about five months ago, and has simply forgotten how to crawl on either knee now and keeps both feet flat on the floor when she elects to crawl now. It's more like walking with your hands on the floor-and man is she quick when she does this.

This is Megan's means of transportation too...seeing as though she isn't walking yet.

Army Crawl-around 16 months
all 4's- around 23 months
(she does both of these still on occassion)

Megan is almost 28 months now.

Thanks everyone for replying, please keep 'em coming!

Lana just started getting on all fours (not all the time, but she can do it), but she doesn't seem overly interested in crawling at 10 months. This is the milestone that we are working on right now and her PT and OT seem to be optimistic that she should be crawling in the near future. I don't know. I'll be patient!

Thanks again!

This is an issue I had with Hannah. At 10 mos she would use both arms at the same time to pull her her body. She would lock at the hips.

For 1 &1/2 mos the PT tried to get her to creep. Hannah would scream and stiffen out. She had been getting on her hands and knees since 8mos of age.

For the past 2wks we have taken a step backwards and worked on combat crawling. It took those 2wks to accomplish it and boy is she fast and now all over the house. She is 13mos old.

She still gets on her hands and knees and goes backwards. She is stubborn and wants to do it her way with NO ONE ELSES!

Beth - That sounds like Lana, she just fights us so much and stiffens her legs strait out. When we give her downward pressure on her tailbone she does well, but she fights us the whole time. I can't wait for Lana to be getting around, but then again I can. She rolls and sits up to everything that she wants to do so she's already getting into things. Today I found her chewing on a power cord. I can only imagine whats to come.

Jaemen is right about there, he sits and lays down and rolls every where, he's been army crawling a little but just started bearing weight on his armms. If we put hiim on his hands and knees he will crawl but he can't get in and out of that position...it's frustrating because I know he wants to go go go...I guess it will come soon then I'll be baby proofing all over the place!!!

Cecilie started crawling the day of her first birthday, she had been on all 4s long before but did not dare to move. And then, all over a sudden she crawled.

Have a nice day,

Friederike
