Abby is going to have to be sudated later this coming week to have the doctor remove the wax buildup. She got ear tubes a year ago February and I just cannot believe the doctor let the wax get like this when he said his expierence has been that children with Ds have small canals and they usually put them on an antibiotic ear drops everyother day to keep the wax from building up.

Anyone else expierence this?

Hannah has never had any trouble with her ears(one of the only issues we have escaped!) She does however produce a lot of ear wax and we use an over the counter drop called Debrox to loosen the wax.My nephew(non DS) also has a terrible time with tubes and wax and his Dr has said some kids are just like this-not much can be done.

Darah had tubes placed last July. We haven't had a problem with wax, but we just found out this week that we're probably going to have to have them replaced. One of them is shifting and getting ready to come out. We're going to follow up in 3 months.

Sorry I can't help. But in all seriousness, Abby couldn't get any cuter. She makes me want to squeeze her!!!

Caden had tubes put in his ears last October. When he seems to have a cold there is more wax that comes out. His primary care said that if the wax is coming out the tubes are doing what they are supposed to. I was concerned and was told it was ok and working fine. Before the tubes the said that Caden did have wax building up but not since the tubes - he seems fine. I don't know if it works that way for all.

Jaymes has tubes (we're on our 3rd set) and he has wax buildup. Generally, they don't do anything about it. I have terrible wax build up myself. Usually have to have my ears irrigated twice a year. What a pain. One of his ENT's told us to expect the wax build up as his canals are just too small to effectively move the wax out. Unfortunately, no one has given us a suggestion for keeping it from building up. But we are usually in the doctor's office so much, they just take it out!! LOL!!

Poor Abby. I wish they would come up with a better way to do this than sedation! Good luck to her.

callum has had tubes put in twice and aprt from the 5 days post surgery has never had ear drops and has never had issues with wax build up and his ear canals are teeny tiny.

Poor Abby having to get sedated, but at least then it will be gone.
