Hi- I have never posted before, but I do read the posts a lot. I have a son Finley who is six months old. He is a great sleeper at night, sleeps from 7:00pm to 6:00 am. He is bottle -fed and weighs almost 12 lbs. He will not nap during the day unless he is in his car seat or in a sled that I take cross-country skiing. He will not sleep in his crib. I have tried putting him on his tummy, letting him cry, swaddling, giving him a pacifier, nothing works. I can tell he is tired but he just won't sleep. Has anyone else had this problem?

Your kids are darling!!!

Whiskey!!!! LOL...just kidding!
We are dealing w/ this w/ our Olivia (non DS)
She just does not want to sleep during the day...and is hit or miss at night.
Someone suggested to me before (and I haven't tried it yet) putting a swater or night gown of yours in the crib for them to lay on and the smell will help...I dunno, try it and let me know.

So glad you posted...would love to hear more about your kids.

My oldest was like that--never took a nap in her life. If you think he really needs it, would it work to put him in the car, drive around the block, have him fall asleep and then put him in the crib? Or maybe a babyswing if he is still small enough would have enough movement to put him out. I don't think it really matters if he sleeps in a crib or a carseat as far as how much rest he gets. Good luck!

Larkin does not nap and she will wake right up if I put her in the crib during the day. She will doze in her car seat as well.

She sleeps at night in her crib from 6 til 5 or 6, eats then back out til 7:30.

I aint complaining...at least nights are great.

Hello and welcome!

My Angela quit napping at around 6 months old. Unless we were in the car. But then, even a 10 min cat nap messed her up for the night!

She's 9 now, and still has a lot of sleep disturbances, even with medication to help her sleep!

Callum was always a great napper but Kieran was a biy hit and miss. We used to let him nap in the baby swing, bouncer or car seat (we'd quite often out the bouncer or car seat into his crib once he was asleep). Have you tried just laying him down and patting his back until he drops off? white noise might help as well (we used radio static). Kieran also had to be swaddled tight.

I was going to suggest what Naomi did - swaddling. It might help. I hope it does. Jaymes sleeps great at day care during the day, but doesn't like to go down for a nap on weekends or when he's home with us for the day. He'll cat nap here and there and that's it.

What cuties you have!!

Your kids are just so handsome. My oldest never took naps but Alexis loves to take her naps and if you wake her up before she has her na out you will wish you let her sleep!

Darah was the same way...here's what has worked:

When other kids require more naps, Darah moved down to one nap a day pretty quickly. I know it's nearly impossible with therapy schedules, but I made her schedule so predictable. She does therapy in the morning, and some in the afternoon. Her nap is ALWAYS from 11-1. I have found that if I wait too long, she won't nap...so I put her down before she's even that tired. She has also stopped crying when I lay her down, and I think it's because of the strict routine she's on now.

I know that may not be possible, but it's really worked. Sunday's her schedule gets played with a little, but for the most part, it's the same. She eats at the same time, she sleeps at the same time, takes bath at the same time. I think our kids crave routine more than typical children!! She has slept all night since birth...she now sleeps from 7pm until 7:30am and naps from 11am until 12:30 or 1pm.

Hello and Welcome! You boys are incredibly cute! I'm glad you posted those sweeties!

McKenna I hate you... just kidding.

We have the same problem. Lana slept through the night since she was 2 mts old, but since then she hasn't been a great napper. I'm lucky to get a 20 min nap out of her, today it was 10. We are on a strict routine, but it still doesn't matter. Lately she's been waking up 2 - 3 times at night (it's getting to me a bit). I'm taking advantage of this waking by coming to downsyn. Occasionally she'll sleep for an hour, but then I don't know what to do with myself... yeah right, I come here.

If someone holds Lana she sleeps longer, but busy me can't sit still.

When she was little enough to be swaddled that helped. I actually swaddled her until she was about 7 mts. Everyone thought I was crazy, but hey I needed that 20 - 30 minutes to myself.

Good luck! I hope you'll be posting an introduction with more pics.
