Daniel is 21 months now and he's at home with my mom, he is enrolled in early intervention, I take him twice a week to Speach, OT, and PT. and a home-bound teacher comes twice a week to see him for 1 hour, but I've been wondering if he would do better going to a center instead.
Do you guys think I should keep him at home with my mom and getting twice a week visits from a home-bound teacher or should I send him to a UCP center that I have really close to my house.
What is your experience with home-bound teachers and have you guys noticed that your kids have accomplished more when they start going to a center????????

Hmmm, Callum's always been at a centre so I can't really compare.

The Pro's of going to a centre
* socialisation
* learning from peers
* gets them ready for a school environment

Con's
* less one on one
* will probably start getting more colds etc.

I can tell you that Callum has learnt a huge amount from being with his peers (private preschool where he is the only child with any real special needs). He does have one on one speech therapy twice a week and we take him privately to PT once a week.

Does Daniel do any socialisations with his peers (playgroups, etc)? What's the UCP program like? Would he still get one on one therapy? Do you think he's getting bored at home?

Well he socialises only on the weekends, so no he is not getting much of that. : (
About therapies, I would still take him to one on one thru my private insurance, I will try to continue this as far as I can.
I am really considering this!!!

Yaliet, I have heard UCP is great! I think the socialization alone is worth it...Kallie did so well imitating other children and really benefitted from a preschool setting....but she didn't start until she was 3. Before that I had her in regular daycare.
