Connor has his 15 month checkup on Wednesday. I'm thinking of asking the pedi about vitamins. I would like to go in there knowing a little bit more about them. Does anyone use vitamins and what should I say?

You can go to the Nutrivene website (assuming that's the vitamins you are talking about) and you can print out a list of all of the ingredients in the formula. I took that list with me and asked the doctor if any of them were unsafe and he said, "no". My ped was neither for or against it. Of course Drake has been taking it since he was 2mos. Let me know what your ped says.

Darah takes the HapCaps. Their website is http://www.warnerhouse.com She's been on them since she was 4 months...I wanted to wait until after her heart surgery. Don't know if they work or not, but it's worth a try.

vitamins

Hi there,

I started Dakota on vitamins about 3 weeks ago after reading abook called "Down Syndrome and Vitamin Therapy" by Kent MacLeod (I think he's a pharmasist or Dr). It is very informative and interesting reading. You can find more about it on the website - http://www.nutrichem.com The vitamin he recommends is MSB plus from Nutri-chem Pharmacy. We have chosen to put Dakota on Nutrivene D (which is almost the same)simply because this is the product the Trisomy 21 research foundation endorses. I hope you manage to find a copy of this book as it's well worth a read. Hope all goes well.

If you are talking about Nutrivene vitamins or the Nutrichem vits, please feel free to email me for any info. I will pass lots onto you. I have researched these out tons. My brother has been taking Nutrivene since he was 8 months old.

Avery uses the Nutrivene D since about 9 mos. I brought the list to Avery's Ped as well to ask her opinion. She agreed all looked good so we went for it. SHe had a blood test to make sure all was well and not toxic and it was all good. She is still on them at 17 mos and we will contine as long as we can. They are expensive though. I am going to look into insurance helping out so we will see.

Carson has been on Nutrivene D for a couple of months now. My ped. didn't have an opinion either way and I had to do something. So far he seems to be doing very well. The cost is about $80 every other month but the dosage is based on weight so as they grow it will cost more.
