If you have a good recipe please share!

Well, here's an EASY one that my family loves!

Throw some meat in there to cook for several hrs with a little water. (I use round steak.)

About an hour before you're going to eat, drain some of the liquid out, depending on how thick or runny you want gravy. Cut the meat into pieces, add a can of mixed vegetables and a can of cream of mushroom soup. Let it cook for another hour, or however long you want! Serve it over mashed potatoes.

I know, sounds weird, but tastes really good! Oh, yeah, don't forget to salt and pepper!

This is the easiest and my families favorite. Take a pork tenderloin ( you can also use chicken) Add 1 large jar of salsa. I use mild but whatever strength you choose. And just let it cook. I serve it over rice and it is so yummy!

There is always good old pot roast:
Brown a roast on the outside in a fry pan and put in crock pot.Use a packet of Liptons onion soup mix(add water according to directions on pack-2 Cups I think)add veggies like potatoes and carrots(i also add sliced mushrooms)simmer all day. The meat just falls apart. So good. You can also do the same thing with beef stew-add stew beef and veggies and use a pac of Mcormick stew mix. simmer all day.I am getting hungry now.....

I am always looking for crockpot stuff! YUMM! My family loves to put chicken tenderloins, green enchilada sauce, red/green/yellow peppers and onions in for about 6 hours, shred the chicken and throw it in a tortilla with lots of cheese. When I feel really ambitious, I will make true enchiladas out of it, but....

I make a roast that's REALLY good. It's so simple too. A roast, 1 package each of dry brown gravy mix, dry ranch dressing mix, and dry italian dressing mix. I put in a little water and potatoes and carrots on the bottom.

This is a dish I make that Michel loves. I'm not a big cooker but this is really easy and delicious.

You will need:

bunch of chicken thighs (around 8 or so)
some garlic (2 cloves approximately)
28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes (Scalfani is the best but they are hard to find)
2 tablspoons olive oil
fresh basil

Chop up the garlic. Doesn't have to be too fine. Throw the olive oil in the crok pot and add the garlic. Stir the garlic up into olive oil so that it absorbs some of it. Pour a little bit of the crushed tomatoes into the bottom of the crock pot (enough to cover the bottom). Add one layer of chicken. Pour some more crushed tomatoes on top. Add another layer of chicken. Dump the rest of the crushed tomatoes on top. Add the fresh basil (at least 4 leaves but you can never add too many basil leaves). Put this on in the morning on low and it is ready to eat at supper time. The chicken will be amazingly tender. Serve on a bed of rice.

And I should add that if you are going to eat rice, you should buy a rice cooker. The stove top can not come close to rice from a rice cooker.

Thanks everyone!!!

Yummy... keep 'em coming.

I went to the store today to buy some of these ingredients so I'll be making them soon.

Tom - I'm trying yours first. We were stationed in Italy for 4 years and this recipe reminds me of something I had there, sounds yummy!

Again, thanks for sharing all these tasty recipes!

Try boneless chicken, two cans of cream of mushroom soup, one can of sliced mushrooms and 1/4 cup of white wine or chicken broth. Cook it for about 6 hours or so - you'll know when it's done. We love it over rice or noodles.

Try a pork shoulder or pork butt (I think they are about the same thing). Cook all day in Coke. Shred the meat on night one and then cook shredded meat all day in barbecue sauce on the second day. I have not tried this yet but my friend is trying it tomorrow and I will let you know.

I will give you more later but hubby is calling me.
Has any tried a pressure cooker... great food in record time.

My Beef Stew:

Put a can of diced tomatoes in the bottom
1 to 1 1/2 pounds stew meat
then any or all of these veggies cut up: carrots, onions, celerey, potatoes, green bell pepper, corn on the cob, garlic
season to your liking
1 can of beef broth
1 can of water

put in the refrigerator over night

cook all day on low next day.
Then I serve with either saltines or rice.

My black eye peas:
Brown up 1 or 2 packages of hot Jimmy Dean sausage
and add to your crock pot with dried black eye peas (or any of the beans like kidney, etc)
lotsa water
season to your liking (lotsa pepper)
Serve with rice

ooooh and ribs are great too.
Broil in your oven and then put them in your crockpot with a large bottle of barbecue sauce.
Let cook all day.

And my boss does a cheese dip in her crockpot,
one package (I think) of velveeta cheese and browned hamburger or sausage and chopped onions I believe.
Serve with dipping chips.

Chicken and Dumplings:

Throw some boneless chicken breasts, 2 cans of cream of chicken soup, one can of cream of celery soup, a couple of stalks of celery (chopped) and 1 and a half cans of water and cook on high for about 5 hours or low for eight hours. When you are about ready to eat, take a can of Pillsbury crescent rolls, rip it up until small pieces and throw that it. Let it cook about 15 minutes more and eat it with rice and a vegetable on the side.

Barbecue Beef:

Start this on the stove top and then put it into the crock pot to cook.

On top of the stove, put a little olive oil in large pan and let heatr up. With a beef roast (some cheap cut), salt and pepper liberally and rub with thyme. Brown it on all sides in the hot pan. Add one large onion that you have cut into rings, then one large cheap bottle of ketchup, one ketchup bottle of water and 6 tablespoons of worctershire sauce. Let it cook down for a half hour and then throw it in the crock pot. Just before serving, take the meat out, shred it and return to the crockpot. Serve on french bread for sandwiches.

I made my first crockpot meal from your suggestions and my whole family loved it, even picky eater Nate (Lana loved it too ). I haven't minded my other crockpot meals but DH is not a big crockpot fan.

Anyway, Tom's chicken is very yummy and very simple! We ate the left overs with egg noodles and it was good too. Thanks again Tom!

Today, I'm cooking Heather's (Hannah's mom) beef stew. Love that it's so simple. Thanks Heather!

Can't wait to make the other meals too. Thanks everyone!

friederike Crock pots are also called slow cookers. Slow cookers cook via indirect heat—the metal, electric standing unit is lined with coils that transmit heat to the crockery insert—and because there's no open flame or heated surface, they can be left unattended. Cooking at this low, constant temperature over an extended period of time means that no stirring is required. In fact, stirring is much discouraged; lifting the lid on a slow cooker releases heat integral to the cooking process.

You know I don't think I ever saw one while I lived in Germany or Italy... hum I don't think they have 'em there. I could be wrong, but here's a link to some http://www.crockpot.com/traditional.html

I have this one. http://housewares.hardwarestore.com/38-200-crock-pots/smart-pot-crockpot-617728.aspx and it's great.

Hope this helps.

Pork with cherry jelly

This one is really easy, and very tasty!

Put a pork roast in the crock pot
In a small bowl, mix one jar of cherry jelly with a bit of dijon mustard (about 1 teaspoon)
Put the jelly mixture in the crock pot over the roast

Cook all day.

I've also heard that this works well with apricot jelly, but I haven't tried it.

I use my crook pot to make spagetti sauce (yes, I'm that lazy!). Just put in hamburger and a jar of Ragu (or Prago ect) and cook on low for a few hours. Also, I make pulled pork/pulled chicken. Use sliced sweet onion on bottom of cooker, add chicken breasts or boneless pork (I like boneless spareribs) and put in lots of your favorite bottled BBQ sauce. Cook on low heat for 6 hours or so. The meat gets so tender, you just can shred it with a fork.
