Hi everyone! I have not been able to post much lately with the new baby, but I have been trying to check in on everyone and read posts. I do have a question and need some help/advice.

Elijah is 18 mos old and has had what we thought was a cow's milk allergy. He was breastmilk and then had to take neocate (amino acid formula) as he could not tolerate even the alimentum. Around 12 mos we did allergy testing (pricks in the back) they determined that there was not a milk allergy. Well, my GI doc said it was too early to test and it could not be accurate. Anyway, I then tried alimentum and he was able to tolerate. The pediatrician told me to slowly introduce milk products. Well, I did last night and he got sick. We tried a baby food dessert with milk/whey in it. EVERYTIME he has had milk/or milk products..it is a text book reaction...he gets sick exactly 2 hours from the time he ate or drink and then he gets violently ill (projectile vomiting) for exactly 2 hours...then it is over. (this has happened about 4-5 times the past year)

Any ideas on what is going on....what I have read about lactose intolerant says that you normally do not vomit. So, I do not think it is that....I am so frustrated, as he is so small, 15 lbs 5 0z, and is so limited on what he can eat because of the "allergy". It is hard to "fatten" him up on peas and carrots.

Anyone have any advice or similar problems??? I was just about to try Goats milk...but now I am just to scared to try anything....he gets so sick!!

Thanks!

Our doctor tells us that Anna is lactose intolerant. She generally throws up a while after drinking milk so we have switched to soy milk, cheese and yogurt. The vomiting was not of the projectile nature though--she would just vomit and go on as if nothing had happened--didn't seem to bother her a bit. She has very little vomiting since she made that switch. We do give her some cheese products that is specifically lactose free--like CrackerBarrel brand cheese. I have heard that rice milk may be a better alternative to soy milk, but since Anna is tolerating it well and it's easy to get at our grocery store.
