Oh, I just love that you are parent of the week!! I would love to know what typical day for you is like? Also, you are the only person I know in CO...what is it like living there? Do you live in the city, country...on a quiet street or a neighborhood with lots of families?

Carmen,

All three of your children are georgious!!! I love looking at all of their photos at http://www.moralesfamilysite.com/.

I do look forward to this opportunity to get to know you! I was fortunate enough once to be able to spend a week at Denver. Not only did I just love downtown Denver, but I also enjoyed my visits immensely to Red Rocks Ampitheater and Estes Park.

I have three questions:

(1) Whereabouts in Colorado do you live?

(2) What is the best thing you do with your kids (individually or as a group) daily that you think gives them the best quality time spent with you?

(3) Who did your children get all of that pretty, curly hair from? (My and my husband's hair are curly, but Henry's straight as a board.)

When you think of your mom and dad (individually and as a couple) what's the first thing that comes to mind?

(I think that was a way to sneak in 3 questions. LOL)

Well first I just want to say to AJ THANKS GIRL for nominating me!!! Although since we will be inlaws you'll get to know me plenty!! And also a disclaimer...I can't SPELL...so excuse all typos!!!

Ok...

quote:
So now that we are on basketball, where did you play in college and where did you coach?

Where did you meet your DH?

Well, I had a full ride scholarship to USC (University of Southern Co.) for Basketball...well 2 months after I graduated from HS I got pregnant...and since they wouldn't take a good o'l prego chic...I went to our community college here and played 2 years for BBall and 1 year for Volleyball...Had a great time and it pretty much paid for my AAS...and I still got to play...

I coached at my old HS...one year for BBall and one year for Volleyball...Loved the girls, didn't so much like the parents. They were very critical of how we coached because it was a private Christian HS they thought every girl should play equally...well, needless to say I didn't think that so we had some problems. But for the most part I loved the actually coaching aspect.

Well...meeting my DH is a long story, so I'll give you the short version...

Judah and I met in Middle school...He dated all my friends and I dated all his friends. We were great pals. We both were the athletes of the school(mind you I graduated with 17 people.) Our school was small so we all kind of dated eachother...Well, we went to camp one summer and Judah and I had both just gotten out of year long realtionships so we were both single and a friend of ours I guess saw the chemistry, and said I bet you guys can't date for longer than a week...Well, 13 years later, here we are. We started dating the summer of my Sophmore year and his Freshman year. YES I'm older and WISER than he is...lol

The funny thing is we've always had these weird occurrences like we went to the same elementary school and didn't even know eachother. We went to the same church when we were little and din't know that until later. And we lived on the same street at different points in our lives...SPOOKY!!!

Well CO is great for raising a family...the schools are great, the outdoors are great and the scenenry is WONDERFUL!!! I love living here...although, I would like to leave someday. It's a very accepting place. We have a huge Military presence here, Air Force Academy, Schriever AFB, Ft. Carson, NORAD, Peterson Air Force Base. So, this city is very diverse which is great considering my hubby is Puerto Rican and Black and I'm Spanish and White...

I live in a new development, in the city, lots of families, great people, it's a new developmental neighborhood area so lots of construction a few streets over so very loud sometimes. Hopefully that will all be done this summer. We have a elementary school up the street so the kids play up there a lot...

WOW I WROTE A LOT!!! LOL

AMY, I do ski, I have been since I was 5. I've snowboarded a handfull of times, but I always fall. So, I've stuck with skiing. But, I've been talked into snowboarding with my hubby and son next week...so that should be an accident waiting to happen Tara you should really come down here and teach me how to snowboard, Judah isn't to patient with me LOL

AND OF COURSE I HAVE ROOM FOR YOU...PLEASE COME, I'LL KICK THE KIDS TO THE BASEMENT, I have 5 bedrooms so ummmm yeah 9 would be GREAT!!! ONLY as long as Austin can stay with me while you guys ski!!!!

Bethany....I was born and raised here in CO...I would like to leave someday, but I just can't leave my mountains I'm afraid...LOL

DEE DEE, well I played Volleyball, BasketBall, Soccer, ran Track, Swam, and played on the boys Baseball team...I love love love love any SPORTS!!! I'm the boy my father never had I would say that BasketBall is my favorite, then Volleyball, then Soccer. It's funny that I have Hailey the girly girl. It's great because I get to see the girly side of life. I guess the life I used to make fun of in HS. And of course Hailey wants to be a cheerleader when she is older....Yuck Hope I didn't offend anyone...LOL I was just kidding...

Well Barbara,
1. I live in Colorado Springs about an hour from Denver. It's the 2 largest city in CO.
2. I love bed time, I always make sure we've talked about the day. They seem to open up to me then. Then either read a book or have them read to me. Then we pray about that day and the day to come... then of course our snuggle time...LOL
3. HA HA...my hair is very naturally curly, and my hubby is Puerto Rican and half Black so they get their hair from us both I guess...LOL it's crazy to take care of though...

OH and BTW Henry is absolutly GORGEOUS!!! I know I've told you before but man he's breathtaking!!!And thanks for checking out our family site...I try to update it often but I'm just a little busy...LOL

quote:
Ok Girl! What's your favorite type of music? Favorite Artist/Musician/Group?

Well this just depends on the day and my mood...LOL

I love R&B and HipHop, Kanye West, Luda, 50cent, to dance to. I love 80's and early 90's the best though...It all reminds me of my youth and the good o'l days. Love Pink Floyd, U2, Jodeci, Zep, Silk, LL Cool J, and most of all
Boys to Men oh and Billy Joel. But really I'm pretty good with most music, just not KORN and Techno!!!
OH and give Hunter a squeeze for me, I just love his cheeks!

WOW..LEAH... What a question...

Mom, definately crazy, but has the best intentions. I would also say Quiet, but Stubborn. But at the same time very motherly, and caring...good Christian role model.

Dad, WOW DEFINATELY CRAZY!!! But in a totally different way. My father is Spanish so he's FUN FUN FUN all the time. He lives life to the fullest and cares so much about his family here and in Peru so much! And he's a hard worker. He grew up with 10 brothers and 1 sister in a little village in Peru with nothing. So, he has worked his whole life to provide for me! He also loves me the most in the world...!!! I'm a Daddy's girl through and through. He's not a Christian, so we have had some difficulty agreeing about things in life. But it has definately made me stronger with what I believe. OH and Passionate...would be the best word to describe him...

And together...LOLthats just funny. I would say how did they last even 5 years. Because they were divorced when I was 5 and he is married to the woman he cheated on my mother with... Whole different story...LOL I can laugh about it now and me and my step mother have an pretty good relationship now but we sure didn't for YEARS!!!

Bethany, Well I have very very different parents. My mother reacted like I had just devistated her life. She didn't know if she could handle him. She made some very rude statements in the beginning just out of ignorance I think. I think she though he would be a vegitable...she didn't really see him or come help me after he was born. It was very hard, but at that time I really didn't have time for that so I was able to get over it...My step father is AMAZING...when Jaemen was born he held him in the hospital and came over to me and said, Oh Carmen he's beautiful and he's my Grandson, I will love him forever and be his biggest fan. And so far thats exactally what he has been. He loves Jaemen and is so so so proud of him. I went to his work and showed him offnow at least twice. He brought all the ladies at his work flowers on Jaemen's birthday...He's GREAT! My true Hero...
My father, came to the hospital and said NOPE he doesn't have DS...Youre crazy!!! Then when the Dr. came in and talked to him he said well let's fix it...anything I need to do I will do...he will have the best Dr.s ever and we'll fix anything that is wrong! Get the best because he deserves the best and do it now was about his approach...I laugh about it now, because thats just the way my Dad is...His family loves Jaemen to pieces. I have so much family here they are all amazing. In Peru, you are given what you are given and children are the best gift ever...you do everything for them because that's your job. So, to him it's just another grandson, with a little bit of special on the side...

Judah's Mom is my children's second mother...from day one she has accepted them all and especially him. She told me from day one that I was so lucky. She just kept saying that over and over...I didn't get it then but I sure do now. Her first son was born and only lived for 4 hours, so she knew exactally what I was going through. She would just hold Jaemen for hours and hours and stare at him... they have a very special bond...she told me that she see's her first son in him...She's an amazing woman...

Yes, I do think AJ is a beautiful person inside and out!!! She made Janna just as beautiful!!

No, unfortunately my DH doesn't want any more kids. I would love one more. Jaemen was actually an oops baby!!! I wasn't planning on having any more kids...I had always wanted 3 kids, so I was elated when I found out I was pregnant!

Barbara, I will work on finding a GOOD picture of my curly hair! I'll get back to that one!

quote:

Leah, well great another hard `question...lol
I think it would have to be something like...To all the people who have loved me, hated me, kissed me, huged me, lied to me, given me hope, played with me, tortured me, thought of me, smiled for me, cried with me, prayed for me, and most of all been there for me...this book is for you guys who have made me who I am today. Wheather that be good or bad I'm not sure but, cheers to you all...

And to thank the most important...The Lord, for making me, holding me when I'm down, inspiring me, and loving me!

I would never write a book as I'm soooo not a writer but thats about what it would be...

What is your view on TV for your kids? Do you ration it? Do you not allow them to watch certain things? Do you like Spongebob?

I am envious of you being able to work out, so, Do you run a 4 minute mile or less?
(I ask since i have not been able to do this since HS...LOL)

With Joey I always have to deal with the "older" parents who look at me like I am a baby and know nothing. Do you face these problems with other mothers of kids from Jay's class? Or his teachers?

What kind of car do you drive?

Enough already

My question is what is your greatest accomplishment and what is your greatest expectation???

Renee, What a great question...I would say that my greatest accomplishment would be where I'm at today...I was considered the dumb jock in HS. I also got pregnant 2 months after I graduated so everyone thought I would fail and not go to college and such. They also thought that me and Judah would break up...Well, we've been together forever and have a good marriage, I graduated from college and Judah is about to...I love proving people wrong! It's probably something that has eaten at me since HS. No one though I would amount to anything. And I have...it's a good feeling...It's not a prideful thing it's just like WOW I can accomplish things...

My greatest expectation...of myself?

* get a tattoo
* skinny dip

1. I really don't like the sky so I don't think I would skydive...lol
2. I would love to scuba dive...My bestfriend lives in Hawaii so I will some day scuba dive...
3. Have a tattoo, on my back of a tribal with a Japanese symbol in the middle that means friendship. My 2 bestfriends have the same tattoo in the same place...kinda cool...
4. Hmmmm do I have to tell....LOL LOL LOL

Stephanie,
OHHHH good QUESTIONS....
Well I don't have a huge problem with TV as long as it's not on all the time. They watch TV if everything else is done like chores, homework, practicing piano and such...which usually ends up maybe like 4-6 hours during the week and about 3-4 hours on sat. Because on Sat. morning I NEED MY SLEEP...Lol
They can't watch Cartoon Network EVER!! They have 4 channels they can watch...Nick, Disney, Nicktoons, Animal Planet...and any movies. I don't care what they watch on those channels as long as they don't fight about it. As soon as there is a fight over the TV, it's immediately OFF!!! So, generally they don't fight over it. I don't like SpongeBob...Actually, I dispise the movie, show and all the crap that they have out. I fell asleep during the movie...LOL but they like it. So sometimes I let them watch it. Especially if I need to take a shower, or take a nap...LOL I know I know bad mom!!!

I love working out...I just started going to the gym a few weeks ago. I wouldn't take Jaemen in there until he was 12 months. So, man have I been sore the past few weeks. I love running too...So, that being said...I haven't ran a 4min. mile since State my senior year where I got second place...But MAN I WOULD LOVE TO AGAIN...maybe someday in another life...LOL YOu know what I don't think it was a 4 min Mile I'm crazy it was 5 something...I wish I could run a 4 min mile...LOL

HA HA HA HA I love this next question...because YEAH I get that everyday everywhere we are...I get asked all the time if I'm 19...WHAT !(????, Do you think I had these kids when I was 9???? I've been asked if I was their nanny, babysitter and such...The parents are so funny, They think I know nothing so usually I'm not to involved with the parents at his school...LOL They don't like my approach on life. They are all high strung about everything, and I'm pretty chill...In Jay's soccer we are the youngest couple by probably 12-15 years. We get alot of looks! And I don't know if it's because we look so young, or because we are an inter-racial couple, or because our kids are darn cute.??? I think the latter...LOL What's funny is I have a half sister that is 11 and Jay is going to be 10 so my sister is about 5'3 and Jay is 5'1 and weighs 100lbs so he's HUGE I'm only 5'5. So, when I'm with just those two, they think we are all brother and sisters...it's great!!! They actually asked me at a theme park if my parents were there because I needed someone over 18 to let me on the ride???? I had to whip out my ID and they didn't believe me...One more story and I'll shut up. We live in a new neighborhood so we get all the solicitors...so one day a meat guy comes to my door...well Jay answers the door and I'm right behind him and he's saying Hi and such and he kinda pauses and says "Well can I talk to your parents?" I said Well I am the parent...and He turns red and starts his selling...and I stop him and say...UMM your not going to even apologize? He said well I'm sorry Ma'am...WHAT now you're calling me Ma'am? I slammed the door...he was kinda creepy and very young...LOL

Well, I drive a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer...I think or maybe it's an 04 can't really remember...it's a 7 passanger...so yeah I'm the typical soccer mom through and through...LOL

How has Jaemen having Down syndrome effected your other kids? Do they ever get jealous of the attention Jaemen receives with all of his therapy?

One more question: How do you feel about the San Antonio Spurs??? (This is a trick question, and there's only one answer to this, so answer wisely!!)

Wait, another one and I'll shut up...you said your husband is in school...what is he going to school for and what does he do for work?

This is so interesting because when Jaemen was born I thought for sure my other children would suffer as a result of the DS. But, man was I wrong...My children have had their eyes opened to the world of people with disabilities. It's been so positive for them...Now with the attention he gets thats another story. I go to therapy generally when Hailey isn't there because she wants therapy now too...LOL We just talk through it though...I usually say, You get to go to dance and Jay goes to soccer. Jaemen just goes to therapy right now, thats his extra cirricular activity...it seems to have worked so far.

How do you feel about the San Antonio Spurs??? (This is a trick question, and there's only one answer to this, so answer wisely!!)

Well, considering I live in CO with the Nuggets, I obviously like other teams...LOL just kidding some day the nuggets will have a winning season!!! I do like the Spurs. They are actually my hubbys fav. team. I like the Timberwolves, as well...LOL Hope I got the question right...

Ok, with all of this sports talk I must ask questions. I am a big sports fan. If I can play, coach, or watch I am happy. Of course my five year old wants to cheer which about kills me. Oh well, to my questions - I am a big LA Tech Lady Techster fan because I went there. In fact, I have been to 3 final fours for the women- which was quite exciting. Do you still follow women's basketball, and which team do you pull for? Who do you think will win the men's and women's tournaments?

YAY! we have another sports fan (Carson's mom) - we are few and far between. why UNC, of course, is gonna win, both women's and men's NCAA. but i bet Carmen says UCONN. seriously i have UCONN going all the way, with Syracuse, UCONN, Memphis, and Villanova in the Final 4 for the men's. TENN is always a good pick to win the women's. but still i'll pull for the TARHEELS all the way in both tourneys.

now for my Carmen question;

why on earth did you ever start liking duke basketball???

btw, here are your Coach K pictures - YUK!

I've been reading these and loving them, but haven't asked any questions yet. So, Carmen, you are my first!

Do you ever come thru KS? Sean would love to play with Jaemen and Aidan has a thing for older ladies.

That is so funny because Hailey wants to be a professional cheerleader/dancer!!! YIKES....I mean I don't even know how to help her...lol I guess I'll learn...

I haven't followed womens for about 3 years but I will always go with UCONN or Tenessee...and since I'm from Colorado, I would love to see CU do something sometime soon...

I Love Duke, having said that I don't think they have the stamina or the bench to win the big dance. So, I did my bracket yesterday and choose UCONN to win... I can't believe I just said that...I STILL LOVE DUKE!!!

OK GIRLS, I THINK WE NEED TO GET A WOMENS BASKETBALL TEAM TOGETHER AT THE CONFERENCE!!! Wouldn't that be great!!??

quote:
why on earth did you ever start liking duke basketball???

WELL, my dear friend AJ, the reason back in the day was...of course, Christian Laettner and Bobby Hurley, and Grant Hill!!! I read an article on coach K about 8-9 years ago about how he runs his practices and some of his drills that were just killer...I've used some of them with my girls and had great success...So, since you're a Duke hater...why don't you like Duke????? See, I don't live there in NC so I don't understand the rivalry between the two schools. I guess it would be like when the AFA plays the Army in football...???? or DU and CC in hockey...?????

THANKS FOR THE PICTURES>.....I LOVE THEM, so did Judah...

Okay soo, how did your parents react when they found out you were pregnant with Jay?

Who would you like to meet(celebrity) dead or alive????

I got my name from my Grandmother in Peru, her name was actually..Yolanda del Carmen. But my mother didn't want my first name to be Yo, so she said Carmen Yolanda is fine...thank God she was thinking clearly...

Well, my father basically disowned me as I was 1. pregnant 2. pregnant with a black mans baby and 3. lost my scholarship...It was pretty rocky until Jay was born, then my Dad straightened up and absolutly loves Jay more than anything...He'd take him over me anyday!!!LOL

Ok Jay's name is Jayvier Levi (Jay-v-ier is how you pronounce it not Javier) Judah was looking in the baby name book and came across Javier and pronounced it Jayvier and I just loved it so I asked him how to spell it and sure enough it was Javier, so we laughed and tried to spell it differently so you would get the JAY not JA...hope that makes sense...and Levi is from the 12 tribes of Isreal and since Judah is also we wanted Jay to have something Biblical and also representing Judah's line...
Hailey Aliyah, well I just fell in love with Kelly Ripas character in All My Children back when she first started named Hailey..and Aliyah is Biblical so she needed a Biblical middle name...I know kinda boring...

And Jaemen Lachii...well, we knew that he was a boy and since he was a boy Judah got to pick his first name and I got the middle...So, Jaemen is a descendant of Judah and it means Right Hand of God and since we knew of his diagnosis after he was born we wanted something strong...and Lachii means Life.

Ha only if we can trade and I get Koby!!!!

I would love to meet Moses...and some day I will...and of course Jesus. And any current celb. I would say Princess Diana...I know I'm crazy!!!

Deborah...I have only driven through KS once when we went to Fl...but that doesn't mean that we won't again soon. We will be going to Fl next summer...and the boys can play together and well Aiden and Hailey I LOVE IT!!!!!She's sitting in my office right now and I showed her Sean and she said he's sooo cute mom...I told her he had an older brother. I don't think she got it

Leah...Well I can say Jay will make a very sweet husband. He's so sweet to me and his sister...I love it...anyone have a 10 year old girl???? He not to into academics but is extremely smart, I think he'll go to college, maybe because we will make him... I don't know...he's kind of a follower but such a leader sometimes. He's hard to read...

Hailey, well well well, She is definately my strong one. And loves anything creative. Loves to write, read, color and dance. She has her ways and I think she's going to make a great manager of HER own business...LOL

Jaemen...well I think he's pretty spunky, and man that personality...WOW he puts the other two to shame

You know I can remember watching that in real time too, and crying and jumping around...I was at my best friends house...and we were screaming for hours after...

It was rated this year as the number 1 last second shot in College History...

Where would you go if you could have an ALL expense paid trip?

Are you a shoe person or a Purse person...or neither?

What one law would you break regualrly if you KNEW there would be NO consequences?

Do you follow a "beauty ritual"? Like for instance, specific face scrubs and lotions?
