Is it ok for Elijah to take like 2 oz and then go to sleep and then about an hour later wake up and take 2 more...? He does this almost all day...until about 11 pm. Then he goes to sleep and doesn't wake up for his bottle until about 6 or 7am. His dr. said as long as he's gaining weight he's not concerned with HOW he eats. Anyone else had this experience?

You are so lucky, mine do that but also all night long
And yes is okay, I don't know how old is your baby but usually they get tired of eating and fall of sleep then wake up again to feed some more.

Well, 2 things. 1) he's going to tire easily because of his heart issues, and 2) because of the low muscle tone it makes them tire easily as well.

We would struggle and struggle and struggle to keep Angela awake to eat. Drove me crazy! When she's start to fall asleep I'd undress her, or take her feet out of her socks, etc to wake her up a bit. If I could keep her awake I could get another ounce or so in her.

I don't remember how big he is, and Angela is so old now. LOL Some of the other new moms might be able to help you with actual amounts.

I guess I should have added:

1. He is 6 1/2 weeks old
2. Last Thursday he was 6 lbs 11 oz.
3. On Monday he was 7 lbs
4. On Thursday he was 7 lbs 8 oz.

So he is gaining weight. I have baby scales so I can track his progress. Over a 24 hour period he eats about 20-25 oz. or so. Everyday is different but he usually takes about 20 oz. He has at least 10 wet and 1 dirty diaper a day. He is also taking 1 oz. of pear juice a day.

Sounds like he is doing great. He sound like he is getting enough food. Anthony would drink two oz. during the day (every two hours) at about the same age. Then at night he would sleep 3 hours and wake up to eat. Anthony is now 11 weeks and he is sleeping through the night (ya ).

Alexis did that until she had heart surgery and now she eats eats eats!!! But she still will eat more on somedays then others but she loves her food. Before her heart surgery she just would get so tired so easy and would fall asleep during her feedings and wake up a hour later wanting more and would eat a ounce then fall asleep again.
That would go on until about 10 or 11 and she would sleep till 6am.

Sounds perfect to me. His weight gain is great!! As he gets a little older, you should notice that he can take more at each feeding...and will go longer in between feedings.
