I was just wondering if anyone elses angel babies were early birds??

Lacey always gets up between 4 and 5 am. every morning.AHH
She goes to bed between 8:30 and 9 pm.. I swear she is killing me LOL!! I was just wondering if this is something common with DS or is she just an early bird!!
She sleeps all night long and takes a short nap every day but its like clock work when she will get up. I try to go to bed early every night to compensate but it nevers seems to happen.. So I seem to be left with less sleep than I'm sure you are suppose to need to function on a sane basis ..

She is always so cheerful and ready to play when she gets up so it's not like you can't enjoy that.. Just a little hard at 4 in the morning!!

Just was wondering??

Kennedy goes to bed at 8 pm and normally awakens between 7-7:30 am. She has a 2 hour nap between noon and 2 pm. But she has been an early bird all weekend waking at 5:45. Apparently I forgot to tell her that it is the weekend and Mommy likes to try and sleep until atleast 7:30. LOL!!!! I have been up this weekend earlier than I get up during the week. She did have a spell last year where she was getting up at 5 or 5:30. Killed me! Like you, I try to get to bed a little early-between 9:30 and 10 pm, although I don't fall asleep tight away! I don't really have any advice, I hope Lacey gives Mama a break and let's her sleep a little. Crossing my fingers!

I would just like to say that Kennedy and I slept in till 11am today!

She is definitely not an early bird! She goes to bed between 9-10 usually and sleeps till 8 when I have to wake her up so we can take the kids to school. Now she will NOT nap normally, she usually falls asleep in the car around noon when I go to pick Kam up but as soon as I get her out of the car she's wide awake again. Little booger! LOL I feel so bad waking her up every morning, but if I put her to bed before 9 she gets REALLY mad at me! LOL

Daniel has always been a great sleeper. I say that with my fingers crossed!!

He goes to bed about 8 or 9 (sometimes later)...and gets up about 7 or 7:30. The earlier I feed him in the moring..the earlier he goes to bed at night. He eats 3 x a day so if I can get that first bottle in by 8.....he can have his last meal at 8. However, sometimes if we have therapy and lunch is late....he has to stay up a bit later to get that last meal in. Daniel eats great...but he has to have a nice long stretch between meals to get that appetite up to eat again.

My Elayna on the other hand....goes to bed around 8ish...and every morning between 6:45 and 7am....she is calling and saying "It's a beautiful day...I want to get up"!!

Renee

I am having the exact same problem with Robert.

He was a model baby going to bed around 7:00 pm and waking 7:00 am until last Christmas. Now he wakes most nights, at any time from 3:00 am onwards!!!!1

I am not sure if this is a DS thing. I remember Hannah waking just like Robert and I was on my knees with tirdness and frustration then too.

But the big difference between Robert waking and Hannah waking is I don't go into Robert until 7:00 am. He doesn't cry for me, he's happy to play with 'safe' toy that are in his crib, and some morning he often goes back to sleep. I think with Hannah I was so uptight that I couldn't let her be on her own..... with Robert I have learned.

Having said all that I am still awake listening to him play, and it's taken its toll on me too.

In my heart I think it's an early bird thing with Robert.
I'd love to hear other views on this one.

Renee, it is funny that you mention that. Avery, for no apparent reason will wake sometimes between 4:30 and five. She is always happy and ready for a bottle and playtime and I am doing my best to be the playful mommy, but it is tough when I am half asleep! She is ready to go back to sleep around 7 for an hour or two after that and who knows about the rest of the day! Her usual routine is asleep at 8 and up at 7 with a two-hour nap between 1 and 3:00. Naps sometimes do not happen for who knows why, they just don't. Sometimes she will stay awake until 10:00Pm (reason unknown) and other times she will awaken at 5:00Am. She most of the time sleeps throught the night, but sometimes she wakens once or even twice. Fatigue doesn't seem to effect her like you would think. Fortunately for me she naps while my oldest is in school and there are a couple of days a week I can get about an hour nap. It doesn't sound like that is the case for you. I'm sorry that your so tired, it makes life rough! Hopefully on the weekends you can get DH to help you get a nap! Good luck.

Oh this is a big issue with us!

Ok, when I say Natalie is an early bird, I'm speaking out of the early to bed context. Natalie is a NIGHT OWL! She cannot take a nap past 3 in the afternoon or we're up ALL NIGHT! Most nights she is up until 11:30, there are few nights where we're up until 1,2,3,etc. We recently stopped her clarinex for alergies as we thought it was causing her to become hyper which meant she wasn't sleeping. There was a 2 week period where I averaged 2 hours of sleep per night. I was so tired I was a zombie! I mean my dh could tell me something and then mention it 5 minutes later and I was like, um when did you tell me that? The problem turned out to be our furnace. It's right outside her bedroom window and the noise, over a span of a couple hours, would waken her. So, now Ms. Natty, and Penguin Boy share a bedroom for sleep and her ex-room is the playroom. For 2 weeks now we've been in bed by 11:30 and both are up between 4:30 and 6:00. I don't mind the super early birds because both will nap 1st time by 7, and then again around noon. It's been real nice to be on a somewhat normal sleep pattern. So, not much help except to show a flip side to early birds. Oh, and my son is actually a better sleeper. I put him to bed around 9:00 or 9:30 and he'll sleep until she wakes him in the morning.

Miss Elainah is not an early bird. She likes to be the last one in the house awake. In order to get her to sleep it must be quiet, no noise from anywhere-or she is just too interested in the what ever is going on around her to sleep.

She is not a good sleeper and wakes up off and on all night. There is no set schedule for her or certain hours of sleep. She does seem to sleep better during the early morning and often does not wake up until eleven or twelve in the early afternoon.

Matt is very much the same - so are his sisters. They go to bed around 8ish, but are always awake before 6. 5-5.30am is pretty average for Rachael, and Matt about the same. Hannah wakes at least twice a night, and is awake for good by 6 every morning. Matt has about 20mins nap in the day some days, others he doesn't bother. Hannah takes 2 10min naps a day. Rachael hasn't napped for a year or so.

I guess some kids just don't need much sleep - even if their parents do!!! All I can say is I empathise, and hope it gets better for you.

And I'm sure Jeff's Emma is usually up at the crack of dawn too, so maybe it never gets better!!! Aaargh!

I have an Early Bird!

Hunter likes to go to bed between 6:30 and 7pm and wakes up between 4:30 and 5am EVERYDAY! If you actually succeed in getting him to stay up past 7 (which is very hard) he will still be up before the sun-I don't get it. He will usually take his nap by 9am but that is only for an hour.

Hannah used to go to bed at 8.30pm and wake up at 4.30am and it used to kill us and she used to take a nap of about 20mins in the day preferably in the morning if I could get her to

however since she started school, she doesn't take a nap at all during the day and goes to bed at 7pm ( we do have to rock her to sleep though ) and then she wakes up 5.30-6am

however now we put toys in her bed and so when she wakes up she will probably play with the toys until she throws them all out of bed but it usually buys us another half an hour of sleep which is bliss

She does sometimes wake up in the night, if she does its between 1am-3am and we don't know why and we have to cradle her back to sleep again

Robert woke this morning at 3:00am and played till we got him at 6:30am. He went to bed at 6:00pm last night. His sister came in at 4:15am as well complaining of pins and needles in her foot!!

I am hoping this phase is short..... we are both completely exhausted.

Jaymes goes to bed at 8:00 each night and is awake by 6:00 at the latest the next day, usually 5:30 or so. During the week, that's ok, but on weekends - we take turns getting up with him! He takes at least a 2 hour nap at school, sometimes 3 hours (depends on how many therapies, how active, etc.). He usually refuses to sleep on "schedule" on the weekends. I try to keep him up until 9:00 or so on Fridays, but it seems he still wakes up at the same time and then is just cranky. Oh well. My husband and I have always been early birds though. I am NOT a night owl. Never have been.

Sarah is an early bird too. Not quite AS early as Lacey, but most days she's up around 5:45. She is usually in bed by 7:30.

Her brother was always a 6:01 kid. LOL (and I laugh because we say 6:01 because there is a digital clock in his room which we had to use at one point to let him know "if the time starts with 6 or higher, then you can get out of bed, but if it's less than 6...you stay in." So...by the time he gets from his room to ours...6:01 on the dot! Who knows what time he is actually opening his eyes? But I think it's, as you say, pretty much like clockwork.

I would settle for 6:00 with Sarah too (although I'd prefer 7!) But...she never seems to make it past 5:45.

Madison does the same thing. She goes to bed at around 8:30 and gets up at between 5 and 6 every morning. We used to give her a bottle at 5 but we stopped that. Occasionally she will sleep till 6:30. She is 13 months old and we are still waiting for her to sleep more then 10 hours. Our doctors said she just doesn't require that much sleep, but she seems tired when she gets up! She take 2 naps a day, anywhere between 10mins and 3 hours. I can't complain because she sleeps through the night.

Callum usually goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes up around 6. He'll occassionaly go through spells of thinking that wake up time is 5am , if this happens then we put him to bed even earlier the next night and he usually gets back into the 6am wakeup.

Saturday he woke up at 4:55am I patted his back and gave him his pacifier and he'd lie still but as soon as I went to leave the room he was up and shouting and I didn't want him to wake Kieran. He had his usual 2 hour nap that day and went to bed at 6:15pm! and slept for 12 hours.
