Hello all. Although this is the first time I have posted it isn't the first time I have been here. I guess in chatroom terms I was what you call a lurker. I haven't visted you guys in a while though (7 or 8 months). I wanted to say hi and thank you. My little girl Megan was born 11/23/03. She was born with down syndrome and we didn't know prior to her birth. It seems so long ago now....but in those first few days as I and my wife Stephanie (I noticed another Stephanie and Joe with a Megan...pretty wild huh?) were coping with the news and a new baby, I found this site. I read your posts, and followed as some of your kids that were in and out of surgeries and doctors visits. I read about your triumphs and frustrations. Each and every one of your were an inspiration and source of strength to me and my wife. This site itself provided me with resources and recommendations that we used in those first few weeks and months. I wanted to say thank you. Thanks for sharing and for having this community. You touch people every day. You just don't know how much sometimes. Anyway, something sent me here again and I figured it was time to say hello and thanks. Hi Joe Thanks for stopping by and introducing yourself. I've been coming on here for almost 18mths and its made such a difference - the support, inspiration, encouragement, etc. Glad you've found it so helpful too. I'm glad you poked your head in and said hello! My daughter, Aleena, is two months younger than Megan. I, too, had lurked for a while before I joined. I was in such an emotional state and this site and these people unknowingly ministered to me in such an incredible way! I am often aware that there are those 'out there' whom we have not met yet (and may not meet), who are hurting and just trying to hang on and cope. We so enjoy the camaraderie amongst ourselves. But as we struggle, question and celebrate we are strengthening, educating and encouraging the unknown others. wow, I was surprised to see my post back up here. I am even more surprised at the date (and a little embarrassed).
