I am sure none of you will believe me but I sorted my sock pile this weekend.............I had cheated first though and bought Daniel some new ones-let me explain:-
Rob has big feet and wear's big work socks, so his are easy to find and match. Oilver still has small feet and wears picture socks so they are easy to match. Daniel has feet that are not much smaller than mine, and as I do not do pink, our socks are very similar in size and colour.
So, I bought Daniel some nice new black ones, with coloured toes and heels. I then went through the pile and threw out all the odd black and not so black ones and put Daniels' nice new ones in his draw. I now know that the black ones are mine ( I kept the better ones that matched!) and the coloured ones are Daniel's..........I thought of all of you as I was doing it and felt very smug, thinking I could tell you all I had solved the problem-but of course it only works if you have one child with feet the same size as someone else, more than 2 and the colour coding gets confusing!!
I enjoyed myself though!!

That is so funny that you did this post because right when I opened it my 7 year old just came in and said she could not find any socks for her to wear. Mind you at Christmas she just got 12 new pairs of socks. I guess that is the one good thing about living in the midde of the desert is that they get to wear sandles the whole summer and do not have to worry about the socks. Where do they go??? Elizabeth

I didn't do my socks yet, and have 2 MORE baskets of laundry to fold today. That sock basket is TOTALLY hidden, as the socks are SO piled up that they are falling over the edge, guess I better get started, AND if in this round there are stragglers, well IN the trash they go!! Vonda

I forsee a day at my house when we throw out all socks and buy 50 identical pairs of white sport socks, distribute them to the various sock drawers and end the need to identify and sort socks by owner. My husband and I will wear white sport socks with dress shoes. The piece of mind will be worth the embarrassment.

I'm gonna go to church and light a couple of candles for you all. I'm getting worried.

At least your children will wear socks. I think Jenna and Cailin have a genetic predisposition to avoid footwear of any kind. I put socks on them, and 5 minutes later, they are off. There's so much Cailin can't do...but she can take off her socks. (Occasionally Jenna will go around the house wearing ONE sock. Weird.)

Heidi, I can so relate. Heather has almost the same size feet as me, luckily she likes the ankle socks with color tops. Rick and I wear the same socks. I bought him the big heavy work socks because I got tired of the grease marks on all the white socks (he's a mechanic). But Alysa's socks keep escaping from the dryer. I swear, I loose atleast one of her socks everytime I do laundry. They seem to sense when that dryer door is open and escape when I'm not looking. The really humorous part about this was the one day, while at work, my boss asked if I had something in my shirt, apparently there was a lump in my back. I thought it must be a dryer sheet, oh no, it was a bright pink baby sock. It's amazing where those little things turn up (I've even found them when I go to the rest room stuck on my slips).

I hate doing the sock load, I am the person in the house with the fewest number of socks, so when I run out it is time to do the "sock load". I dread every minute of it.
Glad to hear there are others with my same problems, connects us all on a whole other level.

I am laughing out loud with everyone! My husband is sitting at the kitchen table and wondering what the heck I'm doing.
Jeff, you make me laugh everday and I too would love for you to live next door. The group of people here have the best view of life, we truly are the blessed!
