Six month check-up

Hi everyone,

Austin has his 6-month check-up tomorrow. Did your doctors do anything extra (than for a typical child) at your six month visit? I have heard that there may need to be additional testing for thyroid, hearing, etc.

Thanks!
Aly

Take a look at Len Leshins site at http://www.ds-health.com

There's a flowchart http://www.ds-health.com/recordsheet1.htm and some health guidelines http://www.ds-health.com/health99.htm that list when everything should be done.

In fact, that web site that Naomi referred you to? You should print the chart and make sure that your son's pediatrician has a copy. Not all pediatrician's keep up with DS, and the special things to check for, and when to check. Be sure to stay on top of it. I love PJ's ped, but I make sure I know before going in, what's due for him, and remind her.

The genetic couselor that we saw gave us the same flowsheet that is posted and added it to McKaylas records. Even though we haven't gone yet for our 4 month check up the dr has put in for a consult for opthamology and ENT (since the military takes forever we figured put it in now and we will be approved by the time she is 6 months old) The counselor also said to stay ontop of the Dr's about what McKayla will need because not all Dr's know what is protecal.

*please forgive all the many spelling errors it is getting late here*

Thank you everyone! I took the checklist to the pedi and appointments will be set up for Austin to get his thyroid, ears, and eyes checked. Thanks again.

Aly
