Evie is just a little over 8 months now and still no sign of teeth. I heard that kids with DS can have late teeth eruption and I was just wondering if any of your little ones have teeth yet. I think she is teething from time to time but when I feel her gums I cant feel anything resembling a tooth
Also, should I wait for her to get some teeth before I try to give her any crunchy food?
Thanks!!

Sophie just got her first tooth! She's 15 months old and she's working on a total of 4! Two are her upper front, one lower on the right, and possibly an upper left molar. Our ST has had her chewing on hard things and vibrating things for a while to help the teeth erupt. ---Jen

Lucy is almost 16 months and has her top two canines.
We did not hold off on any food, we let her try to gum just about anything. One trick her speech therapist did suggest is if it is something a little more difficult to gum without teeth to feed it to her by hand. I actually place difficult foods in the side of her mouth and press a bit into her gums. That gives her the sensory input to bite down. And of course we give her very small pieces and she is closely supervised during meals and snacks. But, she manages everything from some types of meat, most fruits and vegetables, and crunchies like cheerios and pretzels.

Quinn is one and doesn't have any. My boys were one when they had their first tooth, so I am thinking it will be a while for her - with genetics and DS they should come up slow.

PJ is 13 1/2 months and tooth #2 just broke thru yesterday. They are both on the bottom, but left of center. Tooth #1 came about 11 -1/2 months, is super crooked, front to back instead of side to side, the other looks straight.

Nichole got her bottom 2 teeth at 11 months. She is now 13 months and no new teeth coming up
She still eats baby food, but we also give her soft foods. Eggs, noodles, small pieces of veggies, bread, beans, etc.
Unfortunately, sometimes she forgets to gum, and she will swallow instead. Sometimes it is scary!

Lilly got her first tooth at 14 months...and it was a molar. She got all four molars, than two bottom, then two top. That's all so far.
She ate puffs before she had teeth, they disolve so she didn't have to chew them.

Tiana did not get her first tooth until 17 months. Her first was a molar. At 22 months she only has about 8, but they are coming.

Asa's first tooth I thought was a top canine, but it ended up being a molar. I guess he was 13 or 14 months when that finally popped through. The bottom molar on the same side was the next, maybe two weeks after (and he chopped pretty good on my finger this morning when I was brushing them - it's still sore now! I let him finish with his Cookie Monster toothbrush, but I think the wall and the floor got most of the brushing ).
I don't know why so many molars pop through first for our kids - maybe it's an easier push for those.
So he has a total of 4 molars - top and bottom right, top and bottom left and his two bottom front teeth like Teddy Joe! Ace is 17 months.

Mary got her first tooth around 14 months. She will be 4 in Feb and has one more to go. She is completely missing 3 baby teeth. I used to worry about it; now I am glad that the teething is done and I only have to wait for one more instead of 4. Mary's teething was hell! Amelia is cutting 4 teeth right now and it doesn't seem to be as painful as Mary's were, even though Mary only got one at a time. Amelia is 14 months, too. Two are top molars and have just broken through and two are front bottom teeth (the ones Mary is missing.)

Sounds like Violette is a toothy one! She has six teeth at 17.5 months. She got them sort of in the same order as her sisters did - bottom two first, then top two, the the top two molars. I can't wait for her teething to be done!
One of our ST's suggested letting her chew on licorice (supervised, of course) to develop those jaw muscles!
I think I've heard they just need a few teeth to chew crunchier things, but it is just lately that Vi seems to be able to manage it.
The DS nutrition book Woodbine house has actually has a lot of good information for all aged kiddos with DS.

No teeth for Eden yet at 8 months. She is constantly biting so I thought she was teething but she's been biting for months now and still no teeth. We have tried giving her little bits of mashed up foods like avocado but even those little chunks left after smooshing it with a fork were too much and she was gagging and coughing. That was scary and mama is not in a rush to try that again!!!

At 15 months, Alexandrine has 11 teeth and I'm expecting a few more to appear in the next few days as we can feel them through the skin. Her first teeth appeared at 10 1/2 months. She always appears to have several teeth (3 or 4) coming out at once.

Austin got his first tooth (bottom right) on Christmas. He was 8 1/2 months at the time. He got his second one (bottom left) about a month after that. I'm pretty sure there are some more coming in now because he has been pretty cranky lately

McKayla is now 8 months old and no teeth in site. But tell you what even with out teeth that little girl can clamp down and bite. I am dreading the teeth since she refuses to take a bottle.
