Anybody on clonidine? They have prescribed it on top of Nick's smaller dose of Risperdal.
Tell me what you experienced with it.

Angela has been taking Clonidine at night for sleeping for about 3 years now. Works great for her. I give it to her about 1/2 hr before bedtime, and she usually asks to go to bed. She sleeps soundly when she's sleeping. She does still wake at least once per night, but without clonidine she was just plain NOT SLEEPING for 3-4 days AT A TIME! She does sleep for 10-12 hours with it, so you need to make sure you're allowing enough sleep time. With Angela, if I know she's going to need to get up earlier than usual the next morning, I have to adjust what time she goes to bed so she has enough sleep time, otherwise she wakes up too groggy. As long as she gets enough time to sleep it off she wakes up refreshed and ready to go.

How much does she take at night? That is what we are afraid of...sleepiness. He doesn't need it for that. They are giving him 1/4 tab in the morning, then in a week or so 1/4 tab at night.

NO WAY would I give it during the day!!! Angela used to take 1 mg, (one tablet) and it would KNOCK HER OUT! Then we dropped it down to 1/2 tablet, but it's also combined with Depakote. The two together KNOCK HeR OUt!!! The first time I flew on a plane with her, I was really worried about how she'd be. I asked the ped. about giving her benadryl, but you just never know how they're going to react to it. She sent me with 1/2 clonidine tablet because it would "knock her out" for the entire flight. Angela weighed about 40 lbs at that time.

So I just went and looked up the dosaging, and see for ADHD the total daily dosage is usually divided into 3 or 4 doses.
I still can't imagine giving it during the day. The drowsiness has never worn off for Angela, but she's also getting her entire daily dose all at one time.
