We're so excited, our application for Ginger from Reeces Rainbow was approved today. In monthes, she will have a whole new life, mom and dad that will love her unconditionally. My eyes well up from happiness when I think she will never see the walls or a crib in a mental institution.

Hey thanks.
Annie:you're not out of it, I didn't say alot until the application was approved.
Today, we fnished off the service aggrement, had our passport photos taken, will send those in tomorrow, had a chat with our lawyer, he's really nice, he calls the adoption a "labor of love". and made a trip to the post office. All after a teacher meeting about Matty, and his progress, and a chat with the school counselor about a "girl social group" at school Ashley wants to join. download more paperwork for Ginger. Wow, this seems so surreal, until we say our daughter, and don't mean Ashley.

Katie,

I have been praying for Ginger every single day since I first saw her picture in the beginning of December, maybe even November. She stole my heart.
I prayed and prayed that if she was not meant to be ours, that she would find a family soon, a family that would love her forever. All along I have been praying for you. Smile
You have my continued prayers. I cried when I saw that she had a family. Part of me sad that she was not for us, but bursting with excitement at the fact that she will have a home.
Anything I can do, please let me know!

Congratulations! And if you have a blog, you better believe I will be following it Smile

All of these nice posts make my eyes fill up, so nice.
Ellen: I felt the same about Ginger when I first saw her, she really tugged at my heart, and a few monthes later my husbands too. She is such a beautiful little girl, will have such a great life, and be loved forever. God sent your prayers for her to us, never know where life will take you. My husband and I thought that maybe one day our international travel would consist of maybe england, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy, the Ukraine was never a thought, as I said, just never know where life will take you. Now you can relax, as Ginger will spend the rest of her life with us, in the greater Boston area. Can't wait to see her expression as she will experience the beach for the first time, the warm sand inbetween her little toes. Aaww. Life is good, and she will enhance ours.

We would like to get to Ireland some day. wouldn't it be funny if you are in the same area where my grandfather and beyond came from to America. They're from Wakefield cork, and I have to look up elsewhere. We would have a pint or 2 after finding that area. Know anyone with the last name Tighe, or O'Tighe? if I didn't find anyone from my heritage, maybe we could have a pint?

vonda,
We're really excited too about Ginger joining our family. about 2 wks ago, before we committed to her, my husband and I also went looking for her pic, couldn't find it either. I thought the worse had happened and she was tranferred. I just started to sob, my husband was nervous, we finally found her pic, had a sigh of relief, and deceided to adopt her after that. I think it's just incrediable that so many people are pulling for her, amazing.

That's a promise when you arrive the first pint is on me!
Wakefield, not hear of that! I'll look it up on the map.
Tighe or O'Tighe would be a common enough name.

I'm psyched (no pun inteneded), I mentioned Ginger to Mattys Psych 2 wks ago during an appt. I am going to line up Mattys Dr's for her, and he sid he would take her on as a patient if we need to. This Dr is hard to get into, he is thrilled that one less child will spend their life in a mental institution, and will have a chance at a great life. the Genetic-developmental Dr's are thrilled, and said "absolutly, how exciting" A couple more to go, sure they will all say yes.

Mailed out more paperwork this morning. Heard from 2 more of Mattys Dr's this morning about taking on Ginger as their pt, they will. this was so nice,, I was talking to the GI RN (she works with Mattys GI DR), and she said "I have spoken with Dr B about your adopted daughter being a pt of his, and he said that would be great, not a problem. If you need anything, don't hesitate to call us, we will support you in any way that we can" I thought that was great, love Childrens Hospital-Boston.

Going to the bank this morning to pay off the home study, since our 2nd visit is tomorrow. Yesterday bought a book about international adoption, and a "Russian for Dummies" translation book. The kids and I are going up to Maine this morning, my sis and BIL have a place about 3 hrs away, watch out and break for Moose!

Tonite maybe our last home visit! The social worker asked if we could possibly get a sitter to keep the kids occupied so the 3 of us could chat. I called my friend, and her daughter will play here with the kids, she's 13. Lucked out for that. Since our kids go into ultra needy show offs when the social worker is here, whcih she completly understands. I went to our town assesor office about a document we need, the woman that helped me was so nice. She asked why we chose Ukraine, and what happens to the children if they're not adopted, i told her about the mental instutions, alone in cribs, the ages they get sent, etc. This woman was in tears, what wonderful people Frank and I are, showed her Gingers pic, she started to cry again, "she's so beautiful, I have to meet this child, she'll love living here, how exciting,..than proceeded to tell me that i brightned the office after the last people were cranky and miserable. After she had made the copy of the document I needed, she shook my hand and said "I can all ready tell how much you love this child, you're a wonderful woman" I was teary by that point when I left. Small random acts of kindness.

the decision to adopt was about 6m long in the making. I live in Northeast Massachusetts, about an hour south of Portsmouth, 15 mins to Nashua. My sis and BIL have a place in Greenwood, ME, next to Bethel. the bravest part for us, is taking our son, Matty, on a 6 hr airplane ride from JFK,NY.

Still haven't done the blog things, so here 's an update. Just moving along on the paperwork, more paperwork than when we have bought a home. whenever I get frustrated, lookk at Gingers adorable face and move on. IT's hard not having any contact with her, or new pics of her. I wonder how she is, is she ok, not sick, how her day went, nothing. I know we'll all be together in monthes to come, can't come soon enough.

Where we're at: Had my Dr appt yesterday, I'm very healthy, the Dr signed off, stamped, the paperwork for that, and I needed a copy of her Dr license. I was all set to send off a letter to the Massachusetts board of medicine for verification, but she gave me that copy without a 2nd thought. That was such a relief. I had 4 pages of documentation, and she said she was "happy to do it". I also got the reaming homestudy documentation mailed out, just waiting for my Dr appt was the hold up. Last Weds we received notification from US immigration for our fingerprint appt, in Boston, April 7. We hope to bring some more paperwork to have the Mass state seal stamped on that, as required. Last night, I heard from our casewrorker, via the Exec Dir, via our facilatater, that Ginger is doing great, and making ncie progress. That made us so happy, and I got teary from joy. She's our beautiful little girl. This is the first news we have heard about her since we started this process, awesome.

Haven't been here for a while. We're nearly done with paperwork, just waiting for our notarized copies of our homestudys. Once I have those, I can take one to Boston for a state seal, and mail one to US Immigration. We received a new pic of Ginger in April, she's grown since the RR pic of last summer, she's beautiful. We hope to go get her in July at the latest.
Linda: haven't seen any flights with a layover in Dublin.

Home studies came last fri, mailed one to US Immigration. I think becasue our documents from them had been processed, except the home study. USCIS-Boston moved real fast, becasue today we got the APPROVAL letter that we can adopt Ginger, and she can come into this country.
