My name's Louise and I live in the UK in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. I have 3 children..Oliver 13, Annabel 10 and Max 15 months. Max has DS. Oliver and Annabel are my children from my previous marriage (they live with us). We did not know until his birth but we always wondered whilst I was pregnant, as we chose not to have any tests, so any 'what if' discussions took place well before he was born. Was still a surprise initially but we always felt that there was much worse things than DS to deal with, things that more often than not cannot be diagnosed before birth. I was very ignorant of disabilty before Max came into our lives...not through lack of education but because it had never touched my life...i was scared, as are most people I imagine. Now, I see the person before the disability. I wish everyone could be blessed in this way...it would make life so much easier for our children/family members as they grow.

I'm really pleased to have found this site. We have only recently moved to this area and I have no close friends/family nearby. I have a wonderful husband Simon, he works from home, which is great when it comes to the various appointments for Max but sometimes it's good to talk to someone else!

I had a browse through some postings yesterday and you all have such beautiful children. I will post some pics of my brood very soon.

Welcome to downsyn. You will find this a wonderful place to meet and learn. As you already know, Cameron, Vinnie and Max share the same birthday but there are several other babies that are close in age on this forum.

Hi Louise, Welcome to downsyn! My situation is much like yours. I have two kids from my first marriage. Audrey is 8 and Finn is 5. I remarried and was surprised at birth with Dorothy's extra chromosome. Dorothy, or Tutie as we call her, turned 2 on april 22. She has brought so much joy to the whole family, i can't imagine life gets any better!!! Anyway, can't wait to see pics!!!
