I apologize for deleting my first post... All is so much better now I have had a renewal and am so happy and in-love with my son. He is so sweet and special. His last cardiology appointment revealed his ASD to be closed He is clear cardiologically now Early intervention comes out once a week and he is doing great Gavin will be 11 months on the 16th and when I get recent pictures developed I will post them Thanks for the messages and support
oxox,
Cass

((((HUGS)))) Hi, I'm sorry that you still feel this way after 10 months. Maybe you need councelling to help you through this. You have on your signature that "God does not make mistakes" and I believe that also, I believe he sends these gifts to those that are able to care for them. Please dont cut yourself from the life you once had, you can still have it, it may be altered slightly but it doesn't have to change every thing you are! You and your hubby need to find a way to connect again and learn to come to terms with your son (his picture is beautiful by the way ). If you ever need to chat we are all here to listen, we are all in the same boat and hopefully we can help you on your road to acceptance.

I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling this way.
Down syndrome is not a bad thing! Look at that little face he has. He is such a precious gift and I think you're so fortunate to have him in your life.

I didn't get to read your post but I just wanted to send big hugs and say that this first year is always going to be the hardest, such a lot to get straight in your head and totally overwhelming at times.
You have a beautiful little boy and I hope you and your family find the comfort and peace of mind you are looking for
Take care

I didn't get to read your post, it was already deleted. Your little guy is precious and I know that at times it is hard to deal with everything that comes our way. Cameron is 19 months and at times I still find myself having a hard time with his dx. Then he smiles at me and I know that god gave him to us for a reason.
Big Hugs and always know that you can come here for anything. This is a great group and no one will judge.

Some of the other people can comment on this, but sometimes it seems to me, that when our children has some sort of medical problem, eg heart ext, it sort of shift the shock of ds to a health problem, and we have to "fight" for them. Our consern then, is: I want this baby to live...and before we know it, we have acepted ds in a way. The few times that I met moms that had ds children without any medical problems, seem to have a harder time accepting.

It's so great to hear that Gavin is doing so well and wow 11 months old already
I think we all have our dark days. The first year so much is going on and I remember the few months leading up to Ethan's first birthday were a little hard at times as you think about the birth and everything that happened after the diagnosis, very bittersweet and it rocks you emotionally!
Looking forward to seing lots of new pictures of your little boy.

Cass, I haven't been here very much lately so I did not get to read your post.
If you need to talk just give me a call or send an e-mail.
