All of a sudden being afraid of everything...

All of a sudden Austin is afraid of EVERYthing. Things that have never bothered him before and things that have been in the house since his birth. For example, he use to love being on our bed and looking at the fan. Now when he goes into our room he whines and clings to you. When he lays on the bed, he has this look of fear in his eyes. My kitchen is all sun flowers. I have a vase with sunflowers and every time he's in the kitchen he won't take his eyes off of them and has a look of fear. He's now afraid of the floor clean, the laundry basket if it's on the floor near him and he's deathly afraid of anyone with a hat on. He won't even look at me when I have a towel on my head after a shower. ( yea, I'm scary before makeup...lol)

Has anyone gone through this kind of thing with your kids? Austin being my sixth you'd think I'd know, but this kind of fear thing is so new. I'm getting worried, because I'm thinking he'll end up being a nervous person afraid of everything. Please tell me this will be ok. Sad

My daughter went through a similar stage several months ago. She was afraid of people she knew when they wore head coverings, sunglasses, swim goggles, etc.

We turned it into a game where she would put the accessories on herself and on us, looking in a mirror when she tried them on. She would remove my sunglasses, put them in her face, put them back in my face, etc. She quickly learned to recognize us with accessories and stopped being afraid.

I don't remember she was afraid of objects though so can't offer any advice for that part.

We did that.....specifically COLIN it was very annoying and occasionally he still does that. (HE WAS AFRAID OF RAIN & SNOW.....tons of things I could not change)

It passed quickly and slowly!

But last friday he got a remote controlled car for his birthday and he got so freaked out that he beat it to death with a chair!!!!! (it was a little funny..... Rolling Eyes .)
