has anybody else been affected by the onslaught of massive baby product recalls?

here is my count so far:

*Storkcraft crib (dropside rail can cause strangulation hazard); never received the fixed side part (recall was back in November) so we collapsed it and cashed it in for a new crib altogether

*graco alano stroller (canopy can lacerate or cut-off the tip of a child's finger, new part can be reordered)

*infantino sling rider (can cause suffocation--unfortunately i sold this to a new mom at a mom-to-mom sale)

waiting to see what other dangers or death traps unknowingly lurk within my home...

Well...... I am keeping my slings........ Used them for 9 years and can sort of say that I am not that dumb to put the baby in so it can suffacate..... Did drop Adrian in a toilet once? but 7 kids through them in 9 years...... I am pretty sure half is operating instructions / operator error...... several million years of use...... human race still going strong!

I have a orner crib...... never like the drop down gate anyways..... so we just have ours cable tied up since last baby Wink

So far have gotten pretty lucky with the recalls except for the crib, BTW the replacement part for the drop side make it a huge pain. I am short and have a hard time reaching in to get Kayla. The replacement part makes it so the side can't be dropped down, it becomes stationary. I thought the stroller recall was going to affect us, but we have the other Graco type.

It's a minefield! We've only had one so far though, Macclaren strollers, but that was an easy fix with some hinge covers.

And Jane......

I don't think it's fair that you just drop that casually into your post without giving the full story! Or am I just a very bad mother for finding that line so amusing?! [of course, it goes without saying that I hope he wasn't hurt].

I sold my maclaren stroller a few months before the recall. The stroller I have now is a different make but has the same folding mechanism as the maclaren and probably the same issues with the hinge!

Am also VERY intrigued to know how Jane dropped Adrian in the toilet Laughing Laughing

Ok.......first..... I have over the shoulder baby holders and not int he "official" recall though they panned all slings! BUT NOT GIVING MINE UP! here is link to mine..... http://www.babyholder.com/

I love they come in sizes.... I have seven.....3 xl's and 4 med (eric is tall and if I have winter coat on Depending on activity I like on outside or inside so I need a larger amount..... then there were the pregnant times.....

HOW I DROPPED HER..... not for the fait of heart......

I was pregnant with one between adrian and Jordan (she was about 12 or 13 months old.......) that we lost (we lost two between adrian and Jordan and two between Jordan and emerson)......

but I puke like mount vesuvious when pregnant for the whole time starting at 6 to 7 weeks......

I was peein..... and trying to hold her and keep Colin and Melea from crawling out from under the stalls and throwing diapers and such all cramped into the littlest one seat bathroom in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!

ThenI made the mistake of putting my keys in my mouth so I had another hand (I now keep them on a carbeener and hook to ring on my end of sling or my id pouch so I do not loose..... but I was not that smart with only three kids and child hearding while peeing and Melea had only been toddling for a little bit)

but the action of putting anything in my mouth makes me instantly need to wretch so I stand up and explode..... and she falls right in...... into the pee and then I puke on her in white dress!)

ADRIAN NOT HAPPY and Colin loves it .... he thinks it is a new game and I believe this is root cause for his hobby of putinng everything he can in the toilet!!!!!!!!!!!

Eventually I get back to the table with the soaked kid and a really pissed off look...... I comment to my husband that he is the biggest ass....cause he is laughing.....cause he figured out what happened from the scream and the look on my face......

so now I love to send him to the bathroom with Colin and Devon now.....

Colin crawls under and locks all the stalls and then continuously flusehes the urinals and has even thrown his iphone in there........

I still occasionally send another one or two in there and just yell in the door to irritate him...... like he did to me that day!

Especially Jordan or Melea who have to announce in their loudest voices what you are doing...... like last week Jordan opend the door and yelled at me " Daddy just farted so I think he has to poppy mom..... it will be a while..... can I come out or do have to stay in here he is stinky!"

no the did recall the others but they specifically said to stop using all slings...... I though the infantino was too padded for the baby....... so I am not surprised........

but they will pry my sling off my back from my cold dead fingers....... and I even have one for the pool and shower~! (I did use that one a lot more with Miranda and with Emerson because they were so small and I was a little worried about suffocation.....l. but not really...... but the world always took it upon them selves to warn me about it......

I like the OTSBH because it is not padded where baby but where I need it..... I have older models (all mine but the xl in eric safe print were used) so I got some way out colors and paterns...... they have thickeker paddin around edges than the newer ones do..... I also like them cause I always have an extra wrap or blanket or as Adrian calls them togas..... if a big one pees or needs clothes due to some reason!

I actually have the tie dye one in the first photo...... a bright fish.....one with hearts...one with bunnies,...... and angels one...... a snow man one and some way out batick patterns....... you can see me coming!

If you can realize me getting to do anything in the bathroom ALONE is very very very unheard of........ I think it is the only thing I am looking foward to when Emerson starts preschool........ I CAN PEE BY MYSELF!

lol i have two slings besides the infantino one i sold and i love them. my son loved them too. i think you can use them and be alright. when i used mine when he was littler, i would check on him and make sure he was breathing ok and not positioned in such a way to compromise his airflow. it's not a fail-safe holder, it's mostly operator-safe (like the person who's using them has to make sure their child is safe inside).

Jane,

OK, that is just too too funny! I know you must have been beside yourself with all the drama, but...... I confess I had tears rolling down my cheeks!

Thanks for the giggles!
