On Feb 9th Jackson will have a blockage removed from a tear duct, and stints put in, and also have his testicle brought down. Two procedures, but only going under once.
I know a lot of yall's kids have had small and far more complicated procedures- so I wanted to ask:
What should I know about the ped surgical process?
Anything to know that is helpful for when they wake up?
Should I plan to be at the Hospital Overnight? (w/o complications)
I am nervous, so I figured I can help myself by being informed and prepared.
Anything you can think of, that made this process easier, would be welcome.
Any questions I should ask, are as well.

I don't know about bringing the testicle down, but the tear duct probe is really no big deal at all. If he were having just that done, it's about a 30 minute procedure, and once he wakes up and drinks some juice you can bring him home. The testicle will add a bit to the procedure, but I'm pretty sure that's just an outpatient as well. You'll be able to see the stents in his eyes afterward. (somewhere on my blog I have a picture of it. I'll try to find it for you.)

Hi my little Grace who's 13 mths has just got back from theatre today. She had an MRI and lumbar puncture. This is her 10th general anaesthetics and shes never had any problems thank godness except she screams blue murder coming out of them ! After 20 mins we were allowed home!
Its always a worry but I'm sure your little one will be just fine x

Two of my children had their tear ducts done. ( I also don't know about the procedure for the testicle. ) When they woke up from anesthesia they were just a little bit grumpy. That's all. Like Leah said, it's not a big deal. I think the toughest thing for the parents is the anesthesia. No one likes the thought of that. We'll keep him in prayer.

Poor Gracie. A lumbar puncture? Ouch. One of my babies, ( 14 months at the time) had to have one done. How is Gracie today?

Austin had his testicle brought down. Very simple. We left the hospital a few hours after coming out of recovery. Best of luck. Having your baby going in for any kind of surgery isn't fun. No matter how simple it is.
