We're not going to the banquet either. I don't know the area at all, hopefully there's somewhere we can all meet up.

We are up to dinner too. Perhaps my DH can look for some good places in the area. He is good at finding his way around new places.

I just emailed a friend of mine that lives in Kansas City to see what might be either available or close to the hotel that is family oriented. Sounds like Friday night might work better that way those that are going to the banquet don't have to miss our get-together.

I am getting excited... Less than two weeks!! WOW it is coming up fast. I will let you know when I hear back from her and see what might work. I am up for anything. McDonalds works for me as long as we are all together!! LOL

just a thought. If you guys dont make a formal plan, and want to kind of informally hang out, I have rented a big suite. Many folks from ROA will be hanging there, but you are welcome to join us. The room is under Harmon. If you PM me, I can also give you my cell phone number, so we can sort of make a plan. It would be nice to see you.

I think Chelle has a good idea, I was going to post as well and say we could meet at our room on Friday if you want and then maybe from there we could go somewhere or do something?? I don't know the area at all
so i don't have any suggestions as to what to do, LOL, but our room could certainly be a meeting place as well.

I'd like to meet everyone! We have to be in the exhibitors hall at 8:30 for a GIFTS meet & greet, but we are free before that.

I'm looking forward to meeting as many DownSyn families as we can.

This is the response I got from my friend so it sounds like if we decide after we meet up to get something to eat that we can do it pretty easily. It looks like a really cool place.

"The mall that is literally connected to your hotel is called Crown Center. Check out the website: http://www.crowncenter.com/

There are a ton of good places to eat. If you go to the dining part on the website you can see all the places they have in & around there. I'm not exactly sure which places will have a meeting room, because I haven't ate at all of the restaurants in there. But if people have their kids with them, the Crayola Cafe would probably be a cool place to eat. I know they don't have a separate room though. There is also a place called Fritzs Railroad that delivers the food to your table on an electronic train, it's more of a burger/fries joint. Just beware, there are some pretty fancy/expensive restaurants around this area. But there is also just casual mall food in the there too.
There is also places to eat at the Union Station, which is a beautiful restored building of what used to be a train station many many years ago. It has a science museum in it, ice cream shops, movie theater, ect. It is within walking distance of your hotel and I'm pretty sure it's connected by a walkway, so you don't even have to go outside if you don't want to. There's a Union Cafe inside there to eat, but again, this place doesn't have a separate room for a meeting area. "

We're going to the convention as well and would love to meet up with some other families, but I am also interested in this GIFTS meet & greet--can you fill me in????

Thanks,
Peggy

I don't know all the details yet, I just had an email from the publisher that she wanted to arrange something from 8:30-9:30 on Friday night.

Deborah, if you get any more details, would you mind letting me know (either post here or send me a PM)? I am also a contributing author and would love to attend this.

Thanks!
