YUPPPPEEEE!!! I just wanted to write and tell you how proud I am of my little munchkin!! Yesterday at PT Zoe had her 6 month evaluation since she's been in PT!! (hard to believe she's been doing it for 6 months already) anyway....

First she had 6 goals and all but 1 were met!!!! Go Zoe!!!
Then the PT did the test, you know the really strict test that they do where they test right there and if Zoe doesn't want to do it then she gets a bad grade, even if the PT knows she does it all the time!!!! So it's kind of an unfair test... anyway.... She passed with flying colors!!!!! Zoe scored at a 7month level in two of the sections and a 9 month level in the other!!!!! WAHOOO!!! (BTW she's 7 months tomorrow! ekk)

I am so freakin proud!! Towards the end when she gave us the "grades" the PT said... "I want you to know that this just doesn't happen with this diagnosis, babies just don't advance like this... Please know that you are amazing and your baby is unbeilievable and is beating all odds!!!"
Of course youknow me, I was all tears!! It was such a beautiful thing to say, and to hear!!!! Embarassed It just makes you feel good when all your work pays off! It makes me feel that all this stuff I do with her really is making all the difference!!!! Yupppppee!

That is amazing! Congratulations to you and to her. And she is so pretty!
I do remember how great that feels. At Teddy's one year evalulation I was told he scored higher than "typical" one year olds on the cognitive tests. I was beaming for the longest time and telling everyone about my little genius, lol.

So did mine and it made me so mad!!!! I kept thinking, Who are you to tell me what she can or cannot do? You do not know what she will or will not do! Anyway.
So proud of her! And yes, please share with everyone, especially those that think our babies can do very little! I cringe sometimes when people say things like, "wow, look at her sitting so well" (Well, did you think she would never sit on her own?) or, "she is clapping! I did not know she could clap" (yes, and she can poop too, did you know that? Because as far as I know you have never changed her diapers) Wow, I sound a little angry, don't I? I better stop.

Well done little girl! Enjoy it

And PS - it can last, at least in some areas.
When my Matt was 2 he had an IQ test and it came out 'normal'. When he was assessed, at 3, in all different areas he did great and was way ahead cognitively and socially, of others his age. (Then he got autism - LONG story). But now, even with all that, at 5 1/4 he can count and recognise all his numbers to 50, he knows all his alphabet sounds and name and the order they come in, he can read around 50 words by sight, he knows how to spell some words, and definitley knows the first letters of them, etc). He's keeping right up there with his peers. And that's all without any speech!

But no matter what else gets thrown at you, don't let anyone tell you it can't last. It might not, but it might! Enjoy your little girl's success!

That's fabulous!

So what did you do? My Leo is only 2.5 months and we just had our first physio last week. The therapist gave us 3 things to work on but just said "as much as Leo will tolerate". He didn't want to give us a strict schedule to stress us out. So can you tell me what you do in terms of how often you do your exercises and that type of thing?

Well first Congrats on Your little Leo!!! He's so adorable!!!
Nothing Special... I just followed our PT's instructions. I make sure to do her joint compressions 3x's a day to warm up her muscles... I work with her inbtwn each feeding usually she eats, hangs around, then takes a little nap then before she eats again we "workout" That's when I do all the exercises with her usually spending about 10-20 minutes... I don't exercise her at all after 6pm ;o) Sometimes I feel maybe I'm working her to hard but really she likes to do it because for the most part she's just playing!! If you need anything let us know!! Good Luck!!!
