Hi there - I don't post much, but yes, my quad screen was a false negative. My Doctor said that my result was beyond good, it was great, so it was a huge shock to her also when Travis was diagnosed.

so getting this one was kinda nice Laughing

I have a long way to go on this pregnancy...but what ever will be will be!!

My quad screen had a false negative. It put my odds at 1:1600. So SURPRISE! I didn't even have that blood test this pregnancy. Not relable.

Wishing you a great pregnancy!

I still have the letter from my OB with Lucy that said the results were "normal". I chuckle when I come across it.

Did they give you numbers?

I was told my bloodwork was negative. Odds for ds were 1 in 320.

Funny, 6 years earlier, I was given same odds, and was told they suspected Ds.

Both babies ended up with a chromosomal abnormality.

My age was the determining factor in whether they considered test positive or negative.

I'm sure you know all of this.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy pregnancy!

I had the integrated screen which combines bloodwork and ultrasound at 12 weeks with the quad-screen at 16 weeks. This test is supposed to catch DS 90% of the time. After having this test, i was given 1:5,200 odds of having a child with DS. After having a normal level 2 u/s at 20 weeks, my odds decreased by another 30% to 1:6,750. So SURPRISE, when Olivia was born with DS.

If you really want to or need to know, I wouldn't rely 100% on these screenings.

Mine was negative and she didn't have any soft markers at her 20 week ultrasound. We opted for the amnio this time just so we could know ahead of time. Very Happy

Negative for me too, and I also did not get any numbers. I also had about 10 ultrasounds because of early contractions.

Oddly enough, my quad screen for Sofie came back with 1 in 10 chance of DS and with Julia my odds were something like 1 in 7500. Go freaking figure.

With my next baby, if we really need to know, we will just do an amnio.

Wow! I am so surprised with so many false negatives! The test seems worthless. Actually in my case, it was accurate. I was given 1:37 for ds when my numbers should have been 1:500.. After the level 2 found some "soft markers", I had amnio and that confirmed it. With my 4th pregnancy,I opted out of any bloodwork. Just had the level 2 appropriate for my age. When that looked good, I relaxed and enjoyed the rest of my pregnancy. I figured I was going to get the baby I was meant to have-ds or not.

I was "in the clear" with the first trimester combined screening (which is considered more accurate than the second semester QUAD screening).

But the QUAD screen showed a tiny bit of higher chances than my age.
