Hello everyone! My name is Tia. My husband Clint and I have a feisty 3 year old named Dharma and a new little peanut named Callie. Callie was born on July 11th and was diagnosed with DS. I didn't realize at the time how fortunate we really were. Aside from that pesky little extra chromosome, Callie is a healthy newborn. We hope she continues on that path.

I've been browsing thousands of sites looking for information and comfort. I keep coming back here. I was absolutely ignorate to DS before Callie's diagnosis. I am trying to learn as much as possible...as quickly as possible. Information makes me feel a bit more 'in control' of the situation. I am still apprehensive about our future, but reading your posts and especially seeing all the pictures of your beautiful children has given me much more optimism and hope.

Thank you all for helping those of us lurking in the shadows. I have wanted to introduce myself for a while, but could never find the right time or words. It's bittersweet to be here. I look forward to getting to know you all better. I'd love to meet some families in my area (South of Atlanta, GA). Other than my daughter, I've never know anyone with DS. I have alot to learn.

Thank you all for your welcome. Don't worry Nicol...you guys won't scare me off. I probably have a million questions...I've just been waiting to introduce myself before I fire away. I'll go poking around other topics to see if there's a good spot to post my probably silly questions.

Kim, you are right about Callie's hair looking like Mattie's. Callie even has that little 'sprout' at the top like Mattie does. I think it's just the cutest. Callie was born with snow white hair. It is starting to change into a really nice strawberry blonde. I'd love it if she keeps that color also. It's bizarre that her hair is that light, though. Clint and I both have very dark brown hair.

Out girls look quite similar actually. Callie makes that little "Oooh!" face that Mattie is making in your signature picture. I like it when her eyes get BIG and wide with a little round "o" mouth. It makes me laugh everytime.
