Any babies sitting up yet? If so, at what age could they sit unassisted without falling over?

Quinn is - she was doing it before but would be woobly and fall back sometimes, but now she is very consistent in it - I would say that she got better in doing it at 9 mts.

Lucy began trying at around 7 months or so (in fact the first time she held it for over a few seconds was the day she came home from her OHS). She had it mastered at around 9 months or so. She's just recently started to pull herself into sitting from her tummy (13 months).

Talitha started sitting independently at around 9 months. She developed good trunk strength by using her bumbo seat. We started her in it at 5 months (just after heart surgery) and gradually extended the amount of time she spent in it until she was strong enough to sit for a while.

Cass sat on her own at 8.5 months and was really steady with it around 9 months. She has been army crawling for about 1.5 months and is getting really fast and is into EVERYTHING!!!!!!! She is just starting to pull up on things to her knees (grabbing everything on the table or couch as she does) and will try to get up onto her feet if someone is there to help her. She loves to stand but does not want to take any steps yet. She is so fiercely independent that although she wants to stand, she does not want to hold onto anything while she is standing. Sometimes she is just as hard headed as her daddy!!!!

Noah has hit a plateau with sitting. He can only sit for maybe 10 seconds unassisted and then he falls over. He has been like this for the past two months, since he was 5 months old. He sits in his Bumbo everyday and really likes it and I practice sitting with him all of the time.

We're working on it too. Katelyn can sometimes sit for 2-3 seconds and then over she goes! (which is Zach's favorite part!)

Sounds like 9 months is the average age...give or take a little. Mattie isn't close to sitting at all. She loves to sit in her Bumbo or on my lap holding her hands. She really likes pulling up to stand when I'm holding her hands.....with help from Mommy. I think she likes that more than sitting.

Jacey isn't sitting either. We are working on it daily, though... She will sit in her bumbo, and in the exersaucer, and will also hold onto our fingers and sit, but cannot sit unassisted yet w/out falling over forward. But, I see her getting stronger every day... She and Mattie are a week apart, only, and it sounds like they are very close in their development...

Actually last week at PT her PT declared her an "independent sitter" OMG! YOu should have seen all of us, we were crying like babies! ;o) It was awsome... the Indpendent sitter is because she can sit in a tripod position, you know where her hands are holding her... anyway she is getting so good that she will let go for almost a min without falling!! I'm a proud mommy!!!
Oh BTW she's 6.5 months...

Nichole sat on her own at 8 months! We are now working on getting her on all fours, she could do it, she has the strength, bit she cannot figure it out.
She is in the "higher" end of low muscle tone though, if that makes sense.
Zoe, your PT sounds awesome. When Nichole was doing the "tripod" sitting, she said that was not considered independent sitting, and would not give her credit for it!
PJ can sit on his own from his tummy! WTG!

Natalie could tripod sit at around 7 months and sit on her own (when sat down NOT from a laying position) at 8 months. I can't remember what age she was when she could get to a sitting position from laying all by herself.
