I don't know bout everyone else but I am ready for McKayla to start walking. I have developed tennis elbow since I have had her, and now that she is putting on a little more weight I have days were I can barley use my right arm. The bad part is with Mike being in Korea I am the only one around to carry her places. The Dr gave me anti-inflammatory meds but I am running out of those and I hate having to take Tylenol every day. Just thought I would post and see if I am the only one feeling this way about walking.

Well I have to say I'm so not ready for Austin to walk. I was just telling my husband last night while watching Austin crawl to the kitchen, I DON'T WANT HIM TO WALK !!!!! He is into everything now and it will be twice as bad once he gets his legs...lol.

For you sake, I hope your wish for her to walk comes soon. ...but for me, I'm not looking forward to it. I also hope your arm/elbow feels better real soon. hugs.

Mark will be two in March and while I will be happy for him when he walks I am with Christine - I am nervous about how much more he can get into and all the falls they take those first few months of walking! All my other kids were chunky babies so I understand how you feel - do you have a stroller that is handy to take everywhere - like an umbrella stroller? Although if she is anything like Mark only Mommy's arms will do!! It must be so frustrating with her Dad in Korea - how long with he be gone? I will add you and McKayla(love that name) to my prayer list - for her to walk and for you to get some relief.

We were kind of in the same boat (although my hubby is here and carries Jacey whenever possible). I carry her on my left side and my shoulder was really beginning to get sore.... Fortunately, Jacey is now walking!! Hopefully it won't be long for McKayla either! I will say some prayers for you and McKayla, your arm, and for your husband's safe return...

I have been trying to carry her more on my left side. My husband won't be home til around Oct and even then he probably won't be "home" He will just be back in the states. He is looking at going from Korea to school in Az for a new MOS(type of job) which will take an additional 4 months before he gets to come home.n I am enjoying the baby stage, she has started pulling up on everything in sight, and can crawl super fast now lol. She also like to take things out of the cupboards and crawl into them. [/img]

OMG!! she is so cute in the entertainment center!!
Have you considered using a sling to carry her around? It may take enough weight off your shoulder/arm/elbow to help you feel a little better. Here is a website... http://babysling.com/ Just a thought Very Happy

I am right there with you!! My acking back....and hips!! The other night I was in such pain that I had to get up to take something just to sleep. I keep telling Ragan that he can't get to 25 pounds until he can walk. He is about 23 pounds now and can't even stand on his own so I think walking is a ways off and I am scared as hell how I will cope. This is when I wish I would have had him in my twenties or thirties, not at 40 and I am now 42. I am getting him to aleast come to me when he scoots around so I don't have to always carry him so far.

Ethan doesn't weigh that much but where I'm having to carry him around I really notice in my shoulder and back at the end of the day. A friend of mine recommended a hippychick seat, it's meant to be excellent for taking the pressure of your back and is perfect with older children.

Another one here excited about the day he does start to walk but ever so slightly worried about the extra mischief he'll be able to get into Shocked Shocked For a little boy who is skooting around on his butt he sure does get into some interesting places Laughing

Benjamin walks, but not at the times or places where I need him to, like up the stairs or out in public. In public I usually do a stroller, but obviously my only option w/the stairs is to carry him. Which isn't *too* bad right now b/c he's only 22 pounds. BUT w/a new baby coming soon (and a C-section), I am worried about that. Sad

i second the motion to invest in a baby sling. I didn't REALLY start using a sling with LC until she was 14 months. It's helped tremendously. I also like it when I'm grocery shopping, since it keeps her out of the germy cart and keeps my hands free.

LOVE those mischevious photos of McKayla in the entertainment center! I am also going to raise my hand and vote for a sling. I have a peanut shell AND a hotsling. I have LOVED using a sling! I used one from the day we got to bring her home from the hospital. She's so tiny still that she's not TOO heavy (about 19lbs). I used it up until last month (when she was 18 months old), but have had to stop since I had surgery earlier this month. Plus, she started walking, so that was perfect timing!

I'm sorry that you are having a lot of pain, and I hope you are able to find some relief soon.

I have a moby D carrier but she doesn't care for being in it. I went back into the dr and they gave me more anti inflammatory medicine and muscle relaxers for at night. I also have an appointment with an OT.
