Question For Those Who Have Blogs

I have a blog, www.everyonehasagift.com that is currently hosted on homestead.com. I'm finding that the service is very difficult to use and is counterintuitive. For instance, it is really hard to post pictures, to upload documents from a word processing program etc. It is frustrating me. So I'm wondering if you could suggest a free hosting service, i.e., blogger, wordpress, etc. that is easy for someone to use, particularly someone without any technical experience. Thanks!

I've had blogger for over 5 years now. I tried wordpress, but to be honest, I'm resisent to change so went back to blogger and stayed there. It's super user friendly and is designed for those who know NOTHING about blogging or coding, and all that stuff.

I've been using blogger for several years too. I really like it and it's easy to use. I've tried WordPress but didn't find it as userfriendly. Blogger has lots of template options and there are lots of online sites that have backgrounds that you can use. It's a lot of fun.

I'd be happy to help you if you have trouble getting started. You can email me at paradisefound2001 at gmail dot com

I am on blogger. I did switch to wordpress for a short while, but like Leah, didn't really love it. So I switched back to blogger and am happy I did. It's really user-friendly, and because it is so popular, when I do have questions it's pretty easy to find answers either through google or friends.

I use Blogger, too. And to make it even easier? I downloaded a program called Windows Live Writer for free (it is just an extension of the Windows programming, so you don't have to worry about any spyware/malware that it could be associated with). I use it exclusively now! The main reason I LOVE it is because it makes uploading pictures a snap. In Blogger, you have to upload each picture individually, and THEN you can insert them into your post. I write and find pictures at the same time, so I got frustrated having to upload BEFORE I could write my stuff. With this program, it's super easy to insert pictures as you go- it uploads everything at the same time when you hit the "publish" button. You can also crop pictures inside the program (in Blogger, the picture has to be exactly what you want to see when you upload), you can change the borders on the pictures, AND you can do the watermark THERE. Furthermore, I've found that it uploads into other's feeds and into Reader instantly; when I published through Blogger, it could take an hour to appear for others to see. I can find you the link if you need!

Good luck! Smile

I went with Blogger. I couldn't tell what I got with the free level of WP and what I got if I paid so I want with the quick answers.

If you go with Blogger and want to use the free online templates, try the Minima Template, even if you don;t like it at first. I found out after I started my blog in a stretch template that Minima is much more flexible and easier to change.

I have heard horror stories of some kind of spambot in Blogger accidentally flagging blogs as spam then deleting them without notifying the owner. Make sure you back up your Blogger blog. It can be restored but it's a big deal to do.

For a beginner I think Blogger is the way to go.
