About the past 8 wks, Julia began having small spots all over her back and trunk. As time went on, became more pronounced, knees, neck, buttocks, wrists, tops of feet. I thought I saw some little bald spots on top of her scalp. Got in to see Dermatology, Dr starts looking her over, "wow, have never seen this before! Moved her to a windowless room, got out the black light to look at her skin before. Not much surprises me anymore, it's an auto immune disorder, not contagious, pigment disorder, just keeping an eye on things, and move on.

My son has vitiligo. Doesn't cause any problems for him at all. I've never heard it associated with hair loss. Interesting!

Hey there Leah,
Hope all is going well for you. Derm also said thyroid, possibly diabetes, celiac, something else can possibly happen with it. Thyroid issues yes. Whatever, not life threatening. Not on her face tough.

Yes, because all those things are autoimmune disorders. Once you have one AID, you are at risk of developing others.
