Hi everyone,
I get so many great ideas from all of you as you share on this site so I thought I'd throw in something that is working for us.
Gunnar has always been an early riser and is still a bit away from being able to tell time so we bought the Teach Me Time! Talking Alarm Clock through Barnes and Noble and boy, it has worked like a charm.
It has a soft yellow light as a night light and then it changes to green when it is an acceptable time to get out of bed. My son understood it the very first night and it works wonderfully!! Now, when he comes to my bed I just ask him if his clock is green...if he says no, then I tell him he needs to get back in his bed
He feels so proud when he stays in his bed until it is green. ...now, I am slowly moving the time later by 15 min increments. hee. One day he might just stay in bed until 8!!!
Maybe this will help one of you out there with your lil' early risers!
˜Lauri

I just bought Paige a "GroClock" for her birthday! Boring I know, but oh man do we need it! So hopefully it works for her! I'm tired of getting up and sending her back to bed every half hour for 3 hours!

What a great idea, and thank you for sharing! I might just use that with my "typical" four year old!

I made my own "green light". Used a candlestick type light base (night light size bulb) with an LED bulb that stays cool and then taped a green plastic Easter egg with the bottom cut out around the bulb. (Another option would be to use a green Christmas light bulb.) i set a lamp timer so the light came on daily at 5:50 and stayed on until 7. My problem with the specialty light I tried was that since it was battery operated it wouldn't stay on long enough.
I'm not using it any more. She had a T&A a month ago and now sleeps like a rock. The last time she was up at night was on her third day post-op!!!

i have an early riser as well. After he is asleep we put an iPod in his room by the door, so when he wakes up he gets it and goes back to his bed and plays until the battery dies. At least it gives us some extra time to sleep.
