Topic Review (Newest First)
brendaI believe this is the website if I not mistaken.
http://www.pregnancy.about.com/health/pregnancy .
But I also agreed that this test has high rate of false results. For my case, the result came as 1 in 3300 @ 20 weeks and 1 in 1500 by due date.

Nancy HI was under the impression that the test has a high rate of false positives. I had a girlfriend who had it done and it came back positive for DS. she had the amnio done and that came back negative. I hope this helps.

MargI know that a few months back there was a website posted on this forum dealing with the accuracy of AFP/MSAFP testing for Down Syndrome. Does anyone remember where the website can be found? I have a friend whose MSAFP/TRIPLE came back high risk, 1/14 for DS. At this point she is opting not to have amnio because it would not change their plans. Since I did not have any prenatal testing, I am probably not very helpful at this point. I shared many of the thoughts I have read on this board with her in terms of the advantages and disadvantages of knowing ahead of time. I also told her that to my knowledge, this test is only a screening test and is certainly not diagnostic by itself. I think some more information about the AFP testing may put her mind at ease. So if anyone can help me with this I'd appreciate it.
Thanks. Marg
