Hello! and Welcome to Down Syn! Our results took 3 weeks to get back, but we were told it could take up to 6 weeks! The wait is awful! I'm sorry you are having to go through this right now. It was a relief to finally know what the results were. We felt like we did a lot of our grieving during those weeks of waiting, and when we received the diagnosis we felt like, "okay, he has Down Syndrome, lets get on with our life."
This is a great place to find information about Down Syndrome from the people who know BEST--Parents! Let us know how things turn out for your son. We have all been in your shoes at one point or another. It is really tough, but just know that almost all of us go on to find out that this is a truly beautiful life. Blessings!

Hello and Welcome!
It took 1 week. And what a relief to finally just hear the news!!!!! The waiting was WAY harder than getting the results.

It took 1 week to get the results back. When I left the hospital with my son I pretty much knew in my heart but just needed the test results to confirm. I'm sorry you are having to wait so long. Hopefully your doctor will call you soon with the results.

Our results took about 3-4 weeks I think but I blame that on the doctor we had the time. You can always call and keep checking on it.
Welcome to downsyn!!

Sorry about your wait! We did the FSH test (3 cells) and got that back within 48 hours, and then the full results took about 2 weeks. Keep us posted.

Hello and welcome. It's usually about 3 weeks, but if in the case of mosaic DS it can sometimes take longer, but not THAT much longer. I'd be making phone calls!

When they took the test for our son, they told us it would take a few weeks. About a month later I called up the hospital where we had the blood drawn (as the doctor didn't have any results yet) and the hospital said that they have the results, and they HAD the results a while ago!!!! My husband went straight to the hospital to get the results, not waiting for the doctors office to get their act together.
Hope all will be well with you,
Debby

Hello and welcome,
I don't have an answer to your question since I found out about Brylee's ds when I was 3 1/2 months pregnant.
I just wanted to comment on how cute your boys are.
Aloha,
Myriam

It took 2 weeks to find out but noone called us I had to call them. They said they would call in 5 days and we waited 2 weeks and I was so mad when I called and got the results and asked why no one has called us. We never got a answer on it. The Geneticist(from Memphis) that I hated called us like a week later and I let her have it. She was so rude and that is when I decided to take Alexis to Vandy and I have never had that problem with anyone from Vandy. I just love them.

We knew for sure before we left the hospital (we were there 5 days as I had a c section). However, due to his tone and his particular type of heart defect, my obgyn basically told me not to hold out any hope that the results would be negative. He said with his features and the heart.....he was fairly certain he had Ds....and he was right.

10 days. We were shocked when we heard DS as we were looking for Noonans Syndrome.

Callum was born on Saturday and we had the results on the Tuesday or Wednesday via the FSH test, not sure how long it took to get the final confirmation as I don't think we ever asked! We knew it by the time we got the preliminary results.
The waiting is so hard, hope you get the results soon.

I can't help with that because I had an amnio at 23 weeks, but I hope that everything works out for you! The wait is awful, I can imagine!

Ours took less than a week. We were told it would take a few weeks, but they came back REALLY quickly.

Hi!
We did amnio, too, and got our FISH (that's flourescent in situ hybridisation, it 's a rapid result test that only looks at the 13, 18, 21, and X/Y chromosomes) results next day, and the full report we got probably 7-10 days later. I don't remember the full report, really, because we had confirmation with the FISH.
I would assume they could do FISH testing with blood, although I admit, I don't really know. I am sorry you're hanging in limbo- the not knowing is certainly worse that 'getting on with it', I think.
best-
stephanie

We got ours in a few days. He was born on a Sat. and by Wed of the next week we had the results. I knew though the day he was born, and tried not to get my hopes up. It was good to have confirmation though.

When my ped suggested that we test, Esther was two weeks old. I took her home and truly SAW her. I noticed so much that I had just not seen. The bent little fingers, the folded little ears, the simion crease, her arm and legs were a bit short.....I knew then.
The actually test took 10 days to come back.

Yes, the FSH is the same blood test, and it looks at less cells (3 I think) but for us it gave us a pretty good idea what to expect from the other test as all of Eliza's 3 cells had T21.
Your son (both actually) are gorgeous!
Please keep us posted.
