I am finally introducing myself after several months of browsing the forums. I was told of downsyn in Kansas at the convention. My name is Melissa and my husband and I have been married 4 years and have a wonderful son Elijah that just turned 2. I was fortunate to have found out about Elijah's heart defect and having ds when I was pregnant. For the first year Elijah was tube fed due to his heart issues. He had OHS Sept 06 for a ASD/VSD, and mitro valve repair. Since surgery we have seen the biggest improvement, Elijah is so happy, and full of energy. He is just an amazing child and has taught me so much, with every day it just keeps getting better. He is definitely all boy - loves to be thrown around, wrestle, and see things crash! He just turned 2 in October not walking yet but I feel it will come soon - I think it has to do with him being on the stubborn side. He knows sign language which is so amazing and shows just how smart our kids are. We live in GA so I would love to hear from anyone living in the area, but most of all just looking to share the joys, and tears that might come along. This is a great sight it seems that when someone is having a down day there is always someone who is coming out of that time and is able to help and give encouragement.
Sorry about the huge pictures , wanted to go ahead and post some so everyone can see how adorable he is. Hopefully soon I will figure out how to resize them.

Hi Melissa! Welcome to you and Elijah. I'm Maggie, mama to Emlyn who is almost 11 months old. We live in Norcross, so not that far from you! I'm sure Jamie and IMRDY (Lori) will chime in - they live close by too and we get together all the time.
Elijah is just a doll. We'd love to meet you and play! Emlyn's getting into other kids now (and really enjoying pulling their hair ) Are you involved in DSAA? We'll be at the Christmas party 12/1 so maybe we'll see ya there!
