I am amazed how at such a young age Abby has touched so many people. She continues to make me a better person as well. This weekend was just one example. We were at our local carnival. I was trying to navigate the double stroller through the sea of people. The people running the games were yelling at everyone tyring to convince you to play there game and I had tuned most of them out. One lady was yelling at us Hey, Hey! I glanced at her, was annoyed and thought some unkind things I sure and I kept going. She left her booth and ran after us. She had a stuffed animal to give to Abby. She put it on her lap and ran back. All I could do was tear up and yell Thank you through the sea of people.
Later that night a lady was watching us and came up to talk to me and Abby. She commented on how cute she was and how she loved her glasses. We were making small talk and then she patted her on the head looked at me with tears and said Thank you and walked away. As my husband and I reflected on the nights events we can only assume that these people were also touched by someone with DS in their own lives. I hope that she will continue to touch peoples lives in a positive way which is what I hope for all of my children. I also hope that those that are close to us and know Abby will reach out to other familes with people with special needs and brighten their day.

Such a great story!!!!! It is amazing how small gestures from perfect strangers can bring so much joy.
Cass, too, seems to touch others in a way that ends up blessing our family. She continues to be one of the most remarkable people I know. We are so blessed to have her in our lives!!!!

Yes. It's what I mean when I say that joy can be found in the most unexpected places. . .

Thank you so much for posting this story. I find that a lot of people are very tolerant and patient when it comes to our kids.
I get a reality check when I am in public places and all harried and impatient from my daughters behaviors and when someone does this sort of thing or shows that they think my daughtger is special in their heart, it melts the frustration away and renews my strength again.
It reminds me to slow down and try not to sweat the small stuff and just BREATHE!!!!!
Hugs--

I sometimes wonder if people that see Mikey had aborted a child with Ds.
