Hi all.
Just introducing myself. I've a child of 3 with t21 and currently pregnant with my 3rd child. I've recently had a harmony test showing I'm at high risk of having another child with t21. We didn't get prenatal testing on any of our pregnancies except this one. Initially we both were in total and utter shock but now have reached an acceptance with lots of fears considering we are a lot more aware this time. It's more the fear of things we didn't experience on our boy and the potential health issues. Our boy had a lot of issues during the newborn period but has otherwise been very healthy. We are on an uurgent list to have a hospital stay for sleep apnea following a home study. Hope this will happen before new baby arrives.
I would love to see if anyone else has more than one child with t21 that also have children that don't have t21. Doesn't seem to be genetic in our case. However if the baby is born with t21 we will have genetic testing done

Hello and welcome!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! How old is your child with DS?

It must have been a shock to get those results, but as you probably know the blood tests are not always right.

In any case, Downsyn is a wonderful place with great people and lots of information and support. Using the search tool you can find thousands of topics in the archives. I have come across several families with more than one child with DS - some biological and some adopted.

My son is the seventh child, the only one with DS.

Looking forward to getting to know you, and good luck with the sleep study! In the archives you'll be able to find many, many posts about apnea and sleep studies.

Good luck,
T

Had replied yesterday but noticed it didn't post. My boy is almost 3. He is due sleep study before Christmas and hopefully well before baby is born.

I guess we will know more after the anatomy scan at 20wks (3wks) and fetal heart echo at 24wks. Once the baby is healthy we are going to be happy. The initial shock has worn off by now, but I know we will be up and down with emotions. I will have a browse through the site at some stage and get to know some of you and share our experiences so far.
