I am so sorry to just barge in here but I need someone to actually listen to me. I know I am probably just being crazy but I cannot get it out of my head that I think my week old has Down syndrome and that it was somehow missed. I didn't do the screening and her ultrasound was normal but I know that doesn't always mean anything.
She has eyes that kind of look like it and she has space in between her toes. She also sleeps A LOT.
My husband thinks it's just postpartum hormones and my mom thinks that they wouldn't have missed it. Today at her doctors appointment I mentioned it and they just wanted me to get her ultrasound pictures faxed to them. But I told them it was normal and they totally blew me off. Didn't even reassure me.
What do you guys think? Maybe it is just postpartum hormones but I can't stop thinking about it and crying and no one will listen to me. I just need someone to look at her and tell me if they think she is ok. I know that the only way to tell is to take a test but considering her pediatrician blew me off, that will have to wait. I know you can't diagnose her over the Internet, I just want to know if you guys think I even have a reason to worry or if I am being crazy.

I had a look at your daughter's pictures. I understand your concern. It must be really frustrating having your concerns dismissed like that. My little girl had really obvious features in her face. Your baby certainly does not have those, though not all do. Also your baby has a beautifully formed nasal bone, which is one of the most consistent markers for down syndrome on ultrasounds (ie when that is missing). I notice a single palmar crease, but I have one of those and my daughter does not.
One way or the other, everything is going to be fine. You have a beautiful baby who just needs to be loved. I know it is hard to relax and enjoy bub with this hanging over you, (and I really don't think she has down syndrome) but you probably won't be able to really enjoy your baby unless this is cleared up. Is there another doctor you can see, so that you can insist on tests just to give you peace of mind?
