Hi Everone,

I posted in the questions section but thought I should introduce myself here. I am Cathy. We are in Ohio. I have a 4 yo son, Ethan and a daughter- Lauren- who will be 2 on Monday who has translocation DS. We didn't know until after she was born. The doctor told us that they suspected it because of certain characteristics that she has. We got the final karyotype the day we left the hospital.

Lauren has been healthy as a horse, thankfully! She has no health issues thus far. She wouldn't nurse so we ended up bottle feeding her. I pumped and gave her breast milk in a bottle for a year. She is doing great so far. She started walking in March and is zipping all over the house now. I think having a big brother to keep up with has helped her. She is doing great with learning signs and has a few words that she says (hi, bye, mama, dada and cheese).

Both our kids are the light of our lives!

Hello Cathy and family - welcome to Down syn. Your blog is great and your kids are adorable. I live in Des Moines Iowa and am mom to Brock. Brock is our first and we found out at birth - big surprise. He is 10 months and doing fabulously. Your daughter sounds like she is a go getter. I look forward to learning more about your family.

Hi. I put a welcome message on another post but welcome again. Your kids are very cute. I am in awe that you were able to pump breastmilk for a year. I have just had to give up pumping for Talitha as my milk supply has dropped to zero. She is tolerating formula but did much better on breastmilk.

Hello and welcome to the site. I am Tracy, mom to Natalie-3DS, Tyler-1, and expecting # 3 in Late December, early January. We also didn't find out until Natalie was 3 days old. Lauren is a doll! Thanks for introducing yourself. Hope to hear more about you and your beautiful family soon.

My son also has Translocation DS. He is 5 now.

The book "Choosing Naia" is also about a little girl with Translocation DS.
