New Film

This was posted on another site. Requesting help to get it into mainsteam cinemas. Check the link to the trailer of the film and see what you think.

Have you heard about the movie "My Brother"? It just won Best Picture at the National Black Film Festival. It's an independent movie with some big stars (Vanessa Williams, Fredro Starr, Tatum O'Neil) It's about two brothers growing up in NY, one of them with Down syndrome. Christopher Scott and Donavan Jennings are the two actors with Ds. (Here's a link to the film: http://mybrotherthemovie.com/.) Because it's independent, they're trying to generate interest to get it released mainstream.

I think it's time we try to get this movie some national attention!! I have contacted my sorority locally to suggest that they host the film as a fundraiser and donate a portion to the IDSF. I also plan to contact Russ Parr, Oprah and Good Morning America (Diane Sawyer) and challenge them to do a story on this movie and its amazing actors with Ds. I encourage you all to do the same. The more they hear from us (and friends and family members), the more likely the film will get some national PR.

Here are some tips:

1. Please remind them that October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, (and often gets over shadowed by Breast Cancer Awareness month – also a good cause, but they have a massive PR machine).

2. Try to contact them within a concentrated amount of time (from now until the end of October) Encourage friends and family to do the same.

3. Share a brief part of your story and what blessing our children are, but be aware of the email length limits for each contact.

SPEAD THE WORD!
