Well, we got our free samples in the mail day before yesterday, and I was so excited!!! I'd ordered a jar of the orange flavor as well, partly to get the book, and also because the nice man I talked to on the phone with the company making MSB+, told me that most people prefer orange - it's easy to mix with orange juice.
Well. My Bene may have DS, but she's NOT stupid! Try to con her into eating or drinking something she MIGHT not like - camouflage it in drinks or food - she'll see it on you miles away.
First, we tried the fruit punch - in pine apple juice. Got it down - and my child looked at me after as if she was ready to torture me to a slow death....
Ok. Second go. Fruit punch in milk. Even Mom realized she just couldn't make that little girl drink that, it looked like something from a toxic waste dump. At this point, Bene is already at a point where she won't even consider drinking anything that is not plain water.
So - I figure I'll safe it - I put the orange flavor in half a glass of orange juice - and lo and behold! She drinks it, and realizes after it's all gone that UGH! There was something in there. I bet I'll have a major challenge tonight to get her to drink orange juice....
So now I have 3 more free samples in different flavors which I am tempted to put into my own drinks - I'm going to need all the energy, creativity and wisdom in the world to
1) Get her to take it at home
2) Get her Dad to give it to her when a) she doesn't want it, b) it's "experimental", c) he forgets to give her her ordinary medication and d) it was my idea that she is going to try it out
Do anyone have a good solution to this? First, how do you mix it? She has to take 4 scoops daily. I've divided it into 2 servings, mainly so that we won't have to have this "battle" 4 times per day. I've also thought about having her teacher give it to her at school; that way I'd know she'd get her vitamins when she's at her dad's too.
Has anyone tried yogurt? Fruit puree? Any good suggestions?? I really want her to try it out for at least a month!

Does she eat jelly? If it dissolves well it would be fairly well disguised in jelly (as in ice cream and jelly type jelly not what we would call jam). Or maybe some other form of fruit flavored dessert. Or put it in orange juice and freeze it into icy poles. These are some of the things I have used in the past with my other kids.
I am hoping they will send me a sample of MSB+ to Australia but we have no problems about Talitha taking it as she is tube fed. There are a lot of advantages to that feeding tube and this is one of them

Mikey takes it in yogurt. I have no problem getting him to take it.

Freezing the orange juice into popsicles is a REALLY great idea!!! I'll try yogurt as well, she likes the melon and strawberry flavors.
There isn't a whole lot of jelly in Norway, we're the jam-kind of nation.
Maybe I can make her a smoothie and put it into that? Should be manageable.
I'll let you know how it goes!

Well, banana/apple/pine apple juice smoothie was a success! Took some convincing due to the color turning very orange after I added the MSB+, but once she had a teaspoon to taste, she was all smiles and yummie's! So for now, smoothies it is! Hopefully, they're making them at the hotel in Crete, too, or we'll be back to forcing down the orange juice. She'll live!
Once we get home from vacation, I'll be making frozen juices of all kinds of fruits for her!

We're still trying to be very innovative with this; sticking with the orange juice and smoothies will definitely get "boring" in the long run. Has any of you tried to just put it into water and present it to their child like "lemonade"?

We haven't tried anything other than the yogurt because we have never had a problem. In fact, Mikey will go get the jar of MSB+ if I don't put it in the yogurt.

I started Kayla so early on MSB+ that she thinks milk is supposed to taste like that!

Now I wish I'd started her that early, too!

Austin is just like Bene... I can't let him see me add the MSB to his yogurt or he will throw it across the room He's a booger. I'm thinking about ordering the nonflavored and then just mixing it with his regular food. I'm telling ya, I can really noticed a difference with his behaviour. He's so much more 'with it'
