Will be praying here! The surgery is not too bad, but, I'm sure you've heard that recovery can be a booger! (I don't know how 'booger' translates in Australia! Laughing ) My pediatrician said at first it's not too bad, but when the throat actually starts to heal, it gets more painful for the patient. Try, try, try to keep Talitha drinking! Bring us updates, please!

It's Wednesday night here, but it's Thursday for you already. I just put Aleena to bed and we prayed for Talitha, the doctors and you. You didn't say if it was in the morning or the afternoon. Surgeries are often scheduled in the morning, so you may well be getting ready right now! Prayers!

I'm assuming surgery is over by this point. Prayers for a speedy and pain free recovery.

Thank you for your prayers. Talitha went well in the surgery - she was in theatre by 9am. She was having trouble breathing afterwards so they had her on oxygen for the day and overnight but we were sent home today. They took her tonsils out and put tubes in but didn't take her adenoids out because apparently they were so small they couldn't be affecting her breathing. I will get more information when we see the surgeon on Monday.

I am so glad I kept her g-tube in because although she will eat, she refuses totally to drink. She has only had two sips of water in 24 hours. They had her on a drip until mid-morning today but if she hasn't drunk anything by tonight I will be giving her a bolus of water. If she didn't have the g-tube she would have had to stay in hospital until she starts drinking - could have been a long one. Praise God for g-tubes Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
A couple of the other parents were hassling us for cheating LOL

This whole tonsil recovery thing is horrible. Talitha is miserable a lot of the time and still won't drink! Yesterday she only ate an icecream and half a yoghurt. This morning she ate a cut up apple for breakfast (her choice). I am giving her all her meds and fluids through her g-tube. If it wasn't for the g-tube she would be back in hospital. I am praying it doesn't set her back in her eating because I was hoping to be able to pull her g-tube out once she is recovered from this. Prior to her surgery we weren't using it at all.

She is not sleeping either in spite of some pretty strong pain meds we got from the hospital. She is up and down all night which means I am too. And she is stopping breathing more often than usual - not sure if it is because of the meds or the surgery or both. I am getting that surreal feeling that you get from lack of sleep and I have to drive an hour each way to see her surgeon today.

I found recovery to really be a nail-biting experience! You ARE very fortunate to have away to get fluids into Talitha!!!! That was so hard - Aleena wouldn't drink, then that would lead to constipation. PLUS the meds can contribute to constipation, so they say keep fluids in her - yeah right! Rolling Eyes

With our experience, just when it got to it's worse and I thought I couldn't stand it any longer, she got better. Praying for strength for ya, cause I know its's rough!!
