Good morning,
Forgive me for not getting her sooner to give an update. Thank you for reminding me.
Our son did come home for 21 days medical leave.... he looked really great considering what he had been through.... his fingers were burned and was told that they were not severe enough for skin grafts but that callas's would grow over. After he was shocked he was thrown from the top of the patrol vehicle, his socks fused to his feet and had to be peeled off... ( I know, makes my stomach queezy too).... he still has short term memory problems and problems with his one eye and ear....yesterday he had his eyes dialated and they found that his injured eye is getting a cateract that will need surgery in the future. His hearing they don't know if it will correct itself over time or not....
For now, we are going by the doctor's reports, and our son to know what the future holds. It has not been determined yet if he will be medically discharged or not.
Please feel free to add to this thread in the future or pm me if I don't get back here to update as often as I need too.
We have one of our foster daughters back with us, and are enjoying her very much. Isaiah and Nicole are doing very well....
Many hugs to all,
baileyshome

It has been an emotional roller coaster over this past week. Things were so touch and go last week that we hung on every phone call. Our son's life hung in the balance for the first four days. Then he slowly began being upgraded over the next few days.
We had our three fd's moved to a new home to prepare for travel. We were given permission to travel with our Itty and Nicole....so nothing with his adoption was compromised in any way.
We received word Sunday that our son had reached Fort Hood Tx. and had walked off the plane under his own power. He still feels like he was hit by a mac truck, and still has seizures but he's expected to make a full recovery in the coming weeks and months.
We still sat by the phone with our bags packed and ready to go.... we got a call yesterday (Tuesday) that we needed to purchase a ticket for our son because he was given medical leave for 21 days. So, we quickly puchased one last ticket and we went today to pick him up.... I cannot say how special it was to walk into that airport and see our son walking out to meet us..... life is precious and to be always treasured!!!!
We will be enjoying him and his time home.... thank you so much for all your prayers.... we know without a doubt that his recovery is a miracle because the doctor's are just baffled as to why he recovered so quickly...but we know the reason and that there have been others praying world wide.
We also have the opportunity if we choose to bring our three foster daughters back... so please pray for wisdom and guidance.... that we will know the right path.
Many blessings and hugs to all,
baileyshome

Hi Everyone,
I am so sorry it has taken me so long to get back here. I've been running all day getting our fd's appointments done that were scheduled today. I've been in contact with our agency and making arrangements, the military has been in contact with us making arrangements and letting us know how things will work. I'm so tired....but the next couple of days are going to be full of activity.
First thing this morning I called for an update on our son. They could tell me nothing only that they would call me. Then 2 hours passed, no word.... so my mind automatically started thinking the worst that maybe he had passed away and they would not tell me on the phone.
My heart just broke at the thought.... because although my faith is strong, in my humanness the pain of losing a child no matter how old is one of the most difficult things to walk through. We have walked through the death of our first daughter who passed away at the age of 5 almost 13 years ago. Although time has healed alot of the pain, my heart cannot comprehend walking through another death of a child.
As I was in the pediatricians office I received a call on my cell from the travel portion of the military. I explained quietly that I needed to take the call due to our son and the staff instantly took both my itty bitty and fd..... they gave me privacy to work out the details and my cell battery was almost dead because I forgot my car charger.....but it lasted until the call ended then prompt died.
Our girls are being moved with the complete understanding of the agency. Our license will remain open and we will keep our monthly safety checks open so that when we are ready we will be able then to just instantly get back in there. We have their blessings, so definitely very peaceful about this area. The new location is actually going to be beneficial to the plan and our hearts prayer is that all things will work out according to the good of all.
This evening around 3 pm. I heard the most treasured and beautiful sound on the other side of the phone..... the voice of our son saying weakly "Hi mom, I just wanted you to know I love you, dad, my family and my country.... and I want you to know that I am going to be alright....but I will not tell you how I feel right now."
We do not know if we will be going to Germany or stateside yet, please pray for the latter because we have already learned that we cannot under any circumstance take our itty bitty. We can take itty to any state in the US, but not out of the country. I have asked for a special request of one of our relatives since we do have intents signed....so we will see. But, we don't have to worry about that if we are flown to our son here in the states. We just have to give contact info at all times.
I will update again once we have more info. Our travel plans are already approved no matter which way it goes. Once we know where everything will be worked out within 3 hours.
Thank you so much for your prayers.....many hugs to all,
theproudfamily6
Hi,
I don't post here very often, but I do read when I get the chance. Our 20 year old son is in the Army and stationed in Iraq. He had been there just a month or so. He is in the Infantry and is on the front lines. We received a phone call this evening that he was injured badly today. He was in a humvee on patrol and a power line came down across their vehicle. Current went through his weapon and through his body..... they got him to the hospital and he had a seizure there. We don't know anything more, but were told that he will be medivaced to Germany. If his doctor warrants that his injuries are severe they will fly us to Germany. If he can be treated stateside they will take us to him once he is back in the US.
Please pray for us..... we have 3 foster girls that we need to have moved because we must get prepared to travel and cannot wait til the last minute to make arrangements. Our son will likely be coming home but we don't know anything else at this time. Our hearts are committed to walking with him through this and being there to care for him....
Please also pray that this does not interupt our adoption of our itty bitty that we have had since birth.... we just signed our first set of paperwork to begin finalization. We love all our children.... and want to much to be able to take our little girl and baby with us.... please pray that all will fall into place and work out.
Please excuse any repetitiveness as I'm not thinking too straight right now....
Many blessings to all,
Baileyshome

Wow you must be in shock! I'm so sorry this has happened to your son. I don't think I could think straight either if this ever happen to one of my children. Praying you are able to get the girls a place to stay while you prepare to go see your son if that is needed. Praying he recovers fully and your adoption goes through.
God be with you.
