I know that our angels can have alot of different things happen when it comes to their teeth, but Hunter's top two are extremely rounded. His bottom two look like regular 'ol baby teeth and his molars are sharper then anything, but me and hubby have been wondering if any one else has 'round' teeth. Is it 'normal'? I don't think I've noticed any quite like his-here's a pic...

Sorry for the messy face-all he does is eat So what do you guys think? Do you see lots of teeth like his?

Sarah's top teeth look very similar to Hunter's, and her bottom teeth are quite squared off as you mentioned. And...her bottom eye teeth are as pointy as shark's teeth, but she hardly ever shows them off in her pictures.

I remember being told early on that the teeth of children with Ds, including shape, can be sharp and pointy and bring many surprises! I'm not sure if their second teeth will be shaped differently.

Either way...Hunter is absolutely adorable, and I wouldn't change those teeth for anything!

Robert's teeth are round too on the top, but I don't worry too much about that.

What concerns me is their size! They seem very large for first teeth. I am more aware of this cos Hannah has just lost her two front teeth and they were so much smaller than Roberts ones!

I am wondering if he might not get a second set of teath and these are his final ones...... they really are that big!! Or maybe his mouth is just smaller? Anyone heard of kids wiht DS only getting one set of teeth. I know the only way to know is with an xray.

Any ideas anyone. Am I inventing worry?

I need to talk to our pead doc about them but were not back there till August!

Hey! I'd take those round teeth over the needle-point teeth that Angela had ANY DAY!!!! Most kids with DS have very SMALL teeth, so those nice big (though round) ones are a bonus!

Colin has the nice- typical teeth - or as close as you would expect. But all came in in weird order!!! Starting around 16 months

Melea- has a combination of all three! Round on top- shark slivers and typical! Dentist told me that it would be closer to normal when she got her permanent set! We shall see! 15-16 months

Adrian - has model teeth- not from my side of the family!

Mirada- got her first tooth (and only so far- but we are trying on two others) at 12 months and it is a lower and is very sharp- b ut appears it will be a typical looking- only about 1/3 way in!

My question- is do we expect them to start loosing them about the same time as typical children? and same order or is this a surprise too!

Angela's teeth STARTED to get loose at about 6 years old (typical time) but DIDN'T FALL OUT!!! She finally had to have 7 teeth pulled at one time. All her front teeth were gone and she was back to gumming food. LOL I wish I had some pictures of it but I didn't own a camera then. Now her teeth are more typical in shape, but very short! In fact, it's hard to get a picture of them. When she smiles you can't see her teeth because they're so short. I tried to get one now....no luck. LOL
I'll try again later when she's not engrossed in playstation.

Miss Elainah has rounded top teeth, and large ones. Her teeth began arriving at about ten months-she has ten now in an unusual array of locations in her mouth.

Her teeth are not only rounded-they are turned in a bit. Her bottom teeth are super tiny compared to the top two.

I have searched my photos this morning to add one to show, but just realized I don't have any of her teeth. I will try to get one later today

Ok... here are Miss Laina's teeth-not a real good photo of her but it does show her teeth.

Much like McKenna's comment below, I too am worried about Miss Laina having large teeth and a small mouth. In our case, I have viewed her teeth on an x-ray and I know she has less baby teeth because a few molars are just fused together.

Darah's teeth look just like Hunter's. She has three on bottom in the front, 3 on top in the front and molars in 3 corners have come in. I have worried about the size of her teeth too, because they seem so big, but I know our kids can typically be missing some teeth, and I'm hoping that's the case with Darah. I think with having a smaller mouth, and big teeth, it would work to her advantage to have less teeth. I'm also kind of scared because they seem close together...I can't imagine her having room for adult teeth!!

Dominics top teeth are rounded but his bottom ones are squared, his molars are really sharp. They took forever to move down completely, but now I think they look sweet. Everyone comments on how nice and white his teeth are. Elliotts baby teeth where really tiny and I worried how his permanant teeth would be, but they are adult size and look fine. Dominic has a wide ridge on his gums so his month appears smaller and he may not fit in the usual number of teeth, but he looks fine to me. Hes not developed a smile for photos yet, but I think thats partly my fault as I have had Braces (retainers)in since he was born and don't like to show my teeth at the moment. Think we are going to have to learn him how to smile for the cameras and send some more photos of his pearly whites.

Angela's teeth are small, but even with small teeth she doesn't have enough room for them. We're working on first getting a retainer to correct her cross-bite, then we'll be doing a palate and then lower jaw expander to increase the size of her mouth so there's room for all her teeth.

Our ped. dentist (specializes in kids with disabilities and 'difficult' mouths) says that with the increased size her speech may improve because right now her mouth is small with normal size tongue. So....we shall see!
