Ryan latley has been rolling her eyes to the back of her head. I know it sounds wierd, but she does it all the time. She stops playing and does it. She does it in her car seat, etc. It is completely freaking me out. What do I do?

I would probably call her pediatrician. If she does it all the time, maybe she'll show the doctor. I know a lot of our kids do different things for sensory seeking, but it wouldn't hurt to have it checked out! Better safe than sorry!!

One more thing...
How old is Ryan? Can you stop her from doing it? Usually if its for sensory issues you can break it. Darah does this thing where she tightens every muscle in her body and shakes...it scared me at first, but I had her docs look at it, and they said since we can snap her out of it (NOT FOR LONG, THOUGH!!), it was more than likely for sensory issues.

Ryan's about 18 months old I think.

When she does it do you make a big deal about? maybe she's just doing it over and over to get the reaction?

Try what McKenna suggested to see if it's sensory.

Ditto Raeann, exactly what I was going to say. Could be some type of seizur or she could just like the sensation of rolling her eyes back.

Thanks-right on about her age (18 months). We don't make a big deal about it at all. I am going to watch her and point it out to her o.t and d.t this week to see what they say. If I call her name, she stops...but it is still the creepiest thing.

Travis was doing this about 6 weeks ago. We happened to have an appt acheduled with our Opthamologist. Travis would roll his eyes up to the top and hold his head down while trying to look up. His eyes were fine, we believe it was a sensory thing. (If you try doing it, you can really feel your eye muscles working!) He stopped doing it a few weeks ago. It doesn't hurt to have it checked out though.
PS: It is pretty creepy though!

I would ask the ped about it as well...Jaemen does this thing with his eyes, but it's to the sides. It's like he focuses on something and moves his head and not his eyes. When we call his name or snap in front of him he quits so the ped wasn't concerned. She said he's just trying to figure out depth perception and focus. We also went to an opthamoligist and his eyes are great so no concern there. But it was a relief to know, so you might want to go to the eye dr...you're right it is creepy!
