This is the first thing I thought of when he entered kindergarten. I wanted him to be happy, have friends, be included and be invited to birthday parties. Well he has been invited to a few this year, but Saturday just made my day. He got a birthday invitation from one of the little girls in his class. There are 4 girls that fight over who gets to sit next to him, etc. Well inside the invitation it read "You are invited to a birthday party at THE TEA ROOM". Then under the invitation the little girl's mom wrote "Vonda, this is really going to be a GIRLY birthday party and Talina invited all of her little girlfriends, but she insisted that Noah be invited to her party as well. I know Noah might not want to come because it IS so girly and Talina completely understands if he can't make it, but she INSISTED he be invited". Is this precious or what?. I asked Noah if he wanted to go and be with all those girls and he said "GROSS", so I guess he doesn't, ha ha. I called and told her that we would stop by so Noah could give her his present, but then we would be on our way. It feels SO good to have Noah invited to a birthday party, especially since he was the only boy invited to an all girl party. He must be pretty special, huh?

Vonda, that is so awesome. Thank you for sharing that with us as well. As you know this is a common worry and as I read your thread today tears built up in my eyes, knowing everything is going to be ok.

Thanks!

Oh I hope my little guy gets invited to things too!!

He has been in school since September but no invites yet.

He's a bit quiet though.

One good thing (if you can call it that) a week ago he was really sick ended up in the hospital and missed the whole week of school. When he felt better at the end of the week we went to school to say hi to his teachers, the kids were all excited to see him and wanted him outside to play.

So the kids do like him and want to play with him. That's nice to know.

That's funny what Noah said about the Tea Party. Great reaction.

Thank you Vonda for sharing this story. I know you are sharing it for 2 reasons.....one ...because you are proud of your loveable boy...and two...because you know us new parents need to hear these wonderful stories. Thank you for sharing...and also for being so supportive!! I know I really appreciate it!

Vonda, your Noah inspires me for the future. I'm sure we have all had the fear about school and "fitting in". Well, it seems that Noah is such a great guy that he is just irristable to his classmates and I LOVE IT! I hope that Avery does just as well. I know it can happen now! The whole tea party vision is sooooo funny! Oh, by the way, I saw your man yesterday in "failure to launch" FUNNY MOVIE!

Lisa I think the MAIN reason I shared this story is really for all of you with younger children, to give you hope because I know when Noah was a baby I longed for someone to share stories with me like this.

Vonda...I know for me...Noah gives me that hope everyday.....and many days hope is all I have. I have re told the story 100 times of the story you told us that his teacher asked them to write down who their best friend was...and they ALL wrote Noah. He is truly inspiring and I have to say thank you for sharing him with us everyday.

I love the story. I was told that Peter is a chick magnet. For some reason girls fight over him. Peter has another friend with DS who the girls fight over too. Maybe our boys are more sensitive than the other boys. It is pretty cute.

Vonda

You give me so much hope.....thanks for taking the time to share.

I know of a child with DS who got NO birthday invitations in playschool. That shocked me.....I cried for the mother on hearing this......

So deep inside I worry for Robert, but hearing Noah's party invitation story gives me hope!
Thank you so much!

That is so sweet! I'm so happy for him, and you. I think he'd be adorable in a little Easter suit, stopping in at the Tea Party.
