Spring is here! (For some of us) Do you Spring clean every year? Will you do it this year? Do you throw stuff out, resell, or just reorganize?

I don't clean but I have been doing a major purge of nonessential items for the last 2 weeks. I have boxes of stuff I'm taking to the resale shop which benefits a local hospital. I get rid of stuff, they get stuff to sell, we're both happy. The house always seems bigger once you get rid of things--but then it all creeps back in LOL.

Oh yes,I swear it's really like a fever that overtakes me.It's still pretty cold outside here(30 degrees) but it's been really sunny and the days are getting longer.I moved the furniture around yesterday and cleaned my windows(yuck)I have also been sorting out the kids outgrown clothes and getting ready for our neighborhood garage sale.I usually sell a ton of the kids stuff and I also give a lot of their clothes to our friends with younger kids.I am anxiously awaiting warmer weather when I can open the backdoor, shove the kids outside and say "go play"

I SHOULD!!! But I don't, really. I just try to tackle the big (not weekly) tasks here or there throughout the year...I guess when I'm feeling motivated. For example, yesterday I decided to tackle baseboards, so I vacuumed and wiped down all of the baseboards in the house. Another day I'll do curtains, etc.

My DH is WONDERFUL about helping out with the cleaning, but he doesn't clean like I do...therefore...everynow and then I need to get down to the nitty gritty and get in those corners.

Unfortunatly I think I spring clean every week/month (OCD ), so there isn't much to do right now. We are moving next month, so I'm sure we'll be getting rid of a lot of stuff.

Renee, you haven't been answering the questions....

I answered yesterdays

I NEED to spring clean... maybe I will... probably not! LOL
I am sorting through the kids' closets and getting all the clothes out that are too small (I still had Kenn's 3-6 month stuff in there! LOL) but honestly, I only did it because I ran out of room!

PURGE PURGE PURGE. But after reading Beth's post in the other Thread, I think I may sell on ebay instead of putting it outside with a sign that says FREE!

We clean the outside of the house w/ a pressure washer.
We open all the windows to air it out.
We shampoo all the rugs and wipe down all the base boards.
We clean the cabinets out in advance of ANTS!
We get my parents to watch the kids so we can actually get this done.
We will probably do it the 2nd week of May.

We end up putting things in our garage and now it looks like a dump, so this year we have enlisted the help of our friends to clear it out and put it on our lawn for a yard sale and anything that doesn't go, I will call up our local Red Cross and they will pick it up!!

Let's hope it gets done! Because we only do this once a year!

Ok, I need to do all this, never thought of it.

We do open the windows and wipe down all the base boards regularly, but the rest... hum I guess we need to do.

Great, now I've got spring cleaning to do... Thanks Steph.

Yes, we do a spring cleaning. In the northeast where I live....it's around this time where you can really tell spring is in the air. We are usually in a deep freeze all winter and everything is dead and brown. But now...things are slowly starting to change. We do a huge spring cleanup outside...and inside I do keep up on it through the year. I go through clothes quite often because my cousin and I have been switching clothes. We had both our kids are the same time...but they had a boy first..then girl..and I had the opposite. So we have been switching clothes for all 4 of our kids. So we don't really get backed up with lots of old clothes and stuff.

I wouldn't think I would need to do a major spring clean this year as we have only been in the new house almost 4 months. But......we do!! It is still freezing cold here so cannot do anything outside. I have already gone through the kids clothing and have sold all of the outgrown summer on Ebay. What I don't sell, I will sell at our neighborhood yard sale in June. The rest will go to the Salvation Army or Good Will. Could probably attack the kids toys AGAIN!!! I know I just did this last August when we had our HUGE yardsale. Where does this stuff come from???? We also did a huge purge before we moved and filled 2 huge dumpsters.
I definately need to shampoo our carpets. Thanks for the list Stephanie. I will keep it handy for warmer weather. And warmer weather could mean like July here in the Northeast. I'll be spring cleaning through half the summer. LOL!!

I don't do a spring clean but I probably do 2 or 3 big cleanouts a year where I get rid of toys, clothes, etc. that we no longer use.

I either give them away to charity or freecycle them http://www.freecycle.org/

NO! Now when I was growing up it was the IN thing to do. My mom would take down all the curtains, scrub out the windowsills, clean out all the closets and dresser drawers, move the couches around, and use that KLEAR wax on the floors. I can STILL smell that KLEAR wax smell, and one of my fondest memories from childhood was after the entire week of cleaning, the night that everything in the house had been cleaned and waxed and everything was all fresh and perfect and the floors all shiny. Everything smelled so good. I do wash the sheets and bedding and hang in out on the clothes line from spring to fall, just to make sure things smell great. I clean out closets and junk drawers and stuff a few times a year, but I just don't do the whole SPRING CLEANING thing.
