This may seem like a very strange question to be posting here, but I know that so many of you are filled with wonderful ideas and resources.

I am looking for a gift for friends of ours who recently had twins, one of the twins being in the NICU for about five months. I am feeling guilty that I have not sent or brought a gift up until now, but I thought that if I waited...she'd be home and maybe I could visit. Well, she's not home yet, and her mom is sounding so concerned and overwhelmed with good reason. It sounds as though she will be coming home within the next several weeks, but with quite a bit of medical equipment and treatments.

Does anyone know of a store/website that carries "special" baby gifts...poems, plaques, etc. I'm looking for a little something that might offer encouragement and support for them.

Also, please keep Baby Jeri in your prayers.

Thank you, ahead of time.

I don't know if this is any help but check this out. It is a journy necklace. They also have bacelets for babies too. I don't know how much you want to spend for this frind but the this site had many diffrent prices. I hope the baby can get well enough to go home soon. That must be really hard.

Here is a website that gives ideas for baby gifts. Scroll down to where it says most memorable baby gifts. Some good ideas there.

I have one of these for Austin and I love it ...
http://www.uptowncountryhome.net/blessing-ring-baby-p-237.html?osCsid=152a141180400ff083e75132781be718

It's a Blessing Ring and you 'thread' all of your Congratulation cards and Get Well Cards on the ring. I ran out of room in Austin's Baby Book and Scrapbook.

For me the most special gift was a small brag book set(for photos)that came with 3 small albums...baby's 1st year, baby's second year, and baby's 3rd year and a small guardian angel pin. Sam was born at 27 weeks with lots of complications and most of the time it was touch and go. A friend gave me the albums and a small pin/charm of 2 angles watching over a baby. These two gifts were so very special to me because this gift looked to the future and was so optimistic when most everyone else was preparing us for Sam's potential death, or for the hard road ahead, bombarding us with medical terms and giving us sympathy cards when he was born than congratulation cards. Also because Sam had 2 cousins (one still born and one a twin born too premature)who passed away and they became Sam's guardian angles. My friend knew nothing of the cousins or the fact that Sam might not make it through the night but she gave me hope...a brag book for baby's first 3 years and how many times do you find charms with 2 angels watching over a baby!!!! It really meant alot to me. I also really liked getting cute preemie clothes...it is a big deal in the ISCU/NICU when they let your baby acutally wear clothes over all those tubes and wires. The things that were the easiest were the ones that snapped all the way down the front. Sam came home with feeding tubes, oxygen ,pulse ox probes and apnea monitors and it was hard to get clothes off and on with so many tubes and wires...the clothes that just snapped down the front just made things easier. And the cuter the better...it distracts from all the tubes (well at least I thought so)...I wanted to show off my beautiful baby and all anyone could see was the tubes. So when we went to the doctor or someone was coming over it was nice to have something cute that fit for him to wear. Food was also nice too. Many of our friends brought dinner or made lunches that we could grab on the go and volunteered to watch our other son while we visited Sam in the ISCU. Being able to spend that time with Sam and not have to worry about Andrew was pricless. It was also very nice to go through the whole "taking your new baby home from the hospital" routine...even though it was several months later we had balloons and and banners and lots of pictures and it was nice to feel like it was a somewhat "normal" homecoming. I also think that it is perfectly fine to get little toys too...Sam loved those musical fish bubbler things that you could hang on the side of the crib(pretty lights, soft music, colors), soft toys or blankets are always nice, and she has twins...so a box of diapers could also be a very welcome gift.

I knew you guys would have great ideas! Thank you so much.

I did go out today and found a lovely "Guardian Angel" poem/prayer that is in a musical frame, but I am still looking for something else for both twins. Perhaps a couple of the easy to button down outfits, and a box of diapers, but I'm not sure of their sizes. I would bet that they are in two different sizes now (5 mo.). And when I visit, I will definately prepare a meal for them, as well.

Thank you all again!

I don't know what sort of sense of humor your friend has but at Staples (the office supply store) they actually sell those EASY buttons like on the commercials. Every new mom with twins needs and EASY button. It might get a few laughs.
