Remember the baby chicks? Well it seems that baby chicks get built up poop stuck on their butts and you have to manually PICK THIS OFF or they won't be able to poop. Well Lovely!!!! SO Peyton and I haul all of the 35 chicks that we have left after 5 died, up to the laundry room and begin the process. Peyton and Halle gagged the entire time. ME, well I had to PEE when I started this process of running the baby chicks butts under the warm water and picking off the poop, and about halfway through I had to pee REALLY bad. Now after having 4 babies it's kinda hard for me to HOLD THIS IN. And then it happened, ME standing there with a chickie in my hand cleaning it's butt and I SNEEZE. Well I peed my pants. The girls were dying laughing at me, still had about 20 chicks to go. NOT FUN........I know you all are laughing!!!!!

P.S.: I'm gonna go make a meatloaf for dinner and prepare it with my bare hands...........anyone wanna come over for dinner, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Gee Vonda....You will TELL everything. LOL Hope those chicks lay some good eggs... to make up for all the poo. By the way, the eggs can come out pretty 'pooish' too and you have to wash those as well.

LOL

Did we forget to mention that this happens to birds? Used to happen to our macaw all the time! What a pain...in the butt.

Good luck!

Your family will be wondering what the new secret ingredient of your yummy yummy meatloaf is. Eeeeewwwwwwww!!!!! OK, so how did chicks survive before humans came along with laundry tubs to help wash off the poop? Or does the mama chicken (um, would that be a hen?) pick the poop off with her beak? Makes you want to go out and kiss a chicken doesn't it.

OK Vonda, you have just proven exactly what I just posted on the chicken thread - they are nasty. I must admit I almost choked laughing at your story. You made my day a little brighter.

I must admit, I was not aware that chickens needed to have their behinds washed. Have you checked ebay to see if they have chicken poop washers? I had to call my parents and tell them of your chicken plight. I grew up around a farm and my Dad grew up with chickens in the yard. We are truely amazed with your chicks in the basement.

Vonda

Did you not have enough kids buts to wipe?
I wonder if you could train them to bend over after they have pooped!!

That was so funny..... I am learning so much on this site.

I'll stick with being a city kid.

Well I'm glad I gave you all a good laugh. Last night at dinner I was sitting there feeling very silly and so I put a little bit of food under my nail and then GASPED and said "oh Peyton LOOOK I forgot to wash my hands after cleaning those chicken butts". The LOOK on her face was priceless, thought she was gonna faint right there on the spot. It was so funny.

These chicks will be in the basement in their enclosure for 4 weeks, (Sally they will NOT be running around the basement and up the stairs, geesh, ha ha) then they move to a spot in the yard that is completely fenced in. Since they are downstairs they really don't bother us because we can't hear them through the floor. They have their own watering can and feeder, so all we really have to do is change the papers each day. It's really not that bad. But I don't know how long we have to pick the poop off, hopefully it'll be fine for awhile

Vonda,

Adult poopie jokes are more sophisticated than kids'. I will wipe the tears from my eyes and thank God I only have human poo to deal with.
