Hello!

My name is Tracy and I am Mom to Lydia(3-21-04) and Will(11-22-05) who has Down syndrome. We did not know prenatally about Will's diagnosis, although I knew the second I saw him (in fact, I was the one who told the doctors and nurses that he had ds Smile

). I am a special education teacher, and I've literally spent the majority of my life working with people who have DS in one form or another. So although Will's DS was a total surprise, looking back it seems as though it was meant to be this way.
Will is a pretty healthy little guy. We just found out that his ASD and PDA need to be repaired, most likely in the next six months (he has two VSD's that are closing on their own). He has moderate reflux and had PE tubes placed when he was four months old. He is developing such an awesome little personality... we really can't seem to get enough of him!
I am taking another year leave from teaching and I am working part-time for a young man who has DS as his PCA. My husband teaches 5th grade and coaches baseball and gymnastics. We live in the Minneapolis area.

) and Will is such an adorable little boy! Maybe he and Payton could hook up?? LOL. I see you are from MPLS area...my DH and I went to school at Mankato State (before it changed names) so I've spent plenty of time in your neck of the woods! We are originally from WI, but moved here to VA a few years ago. Can't wait to hear more about your family!

Hello and welcome to this great support group. I find this place so informative and welcoming, I come to visit every day. Wil is gorgeous. Hey how exciting, I was in gymnastics for eight years growing up and coached it for three, loved the sport. We are the luckiest people in the world to be gifted with our little angels.!

Welcome to a fellow Minnesotan! We have a little boy who was born last December and we didn't know he had DS till the day after he was born. My wife worked with adults with disabilities, including DS, most of her career, so our stories are very similar. Perhaps our little guys will meet someday.
