Posted: June 30 2009, 9:46 AM Post subject: Kennedy surgery tomorrow....UPDATED!!!!!!!!
|
|
|
|
Kennedy is having dental surgery tomorrow to remove her top 4 teeth, a cleaning, sealants on her molars, and xrays......they are putting her out which absolutely terrifies me. My husband is taking her because I cannot handle it....please say a prayer for us if you can. I know all will go well but these things always make me nervous!!!! Thanks everybody...we appreciate it!
7/2//09
Kennedy did very very well.....she is such a trooper. They never started the surgery until after 4 pm...appt was for 11am. They realized at the last minute she needed an Xray to check for AAI...and then had to call a specialist in to read it. They ended up pulling 6 teeth...poor thing. They also removed 2 lower teeth next to her 2 front ones because of some crowding issues.....he said if he didnt now, she would be back in 6 months anyway...soo!
She ate immediately upon arriving home...poor thing had nothing to eat pr drink for 24 hours. She sure is making up for it!
Thanks everybody for your prayers and kind words...it means so much to me!!!!

Sending prayers, I worry to when ever they have to put our children under for any procedure. Beth, why do they have to remove her four front teeth? Katarina is older then her and she still has her four front teeth.
Does she have permenant teeth pushing threw behind them?

She has some bad cavities....brushing has been a horrible experience....she tends to keep all of her food and drink at the very front of her mouth when consuming her food and drink...they NEED to be taken out...they are loose anyway but I want her to get cleaned up and do all of the other things that need done while she is out...it will be much much easier. Just praying she has teeth behind them

this is why i'm glad we've stuck to my husband's theory although it was hard and you may consider it once this is all over with.
he says, 'i rather her cry and throw a fit in the floor at home than at the dentist's office'
in other words, we used to have to hold her down in the floor/bed/where ever to scrub her teeth and over time we gradually made it to an upright postition and it didn't take long before she was tolerating brushing like anyone else and now even enjoys brushing them herself, although we still do a good scrubbing twice a day to make sure they're clean.
i hope that it all goes well today and that Kennedy is back to her old self in no time. keep us updated, aj

I completely agree AJ...it will a pain in the butt for all of us but well worth it in the end....We have not been as diligent as we should have been but it will all start today...LOL! Thanks for making me feel better today

Prayers coming your way.... Peyton had his 2 front teeth pulled 4 caps at the top and 2 caps at the bottom . The dentist says this is normal with kids that have down syndrome. Good luck Katrina and Peyton

Glad she got through ok. I am about to make an appointment with the dentist for Talitha. Her teeth are terribly crowded. She does kind of clean them but it is hard to make sure they are cleaned properly. I am not looking forward to the dentist.
